1986 CASE IH 1494 (David Brown) Dash Help

I am looking to see if anyone knows what the dial (knob) is on the left hand side of the dash just below the heater on/off switch is?

I marked up a photo from the internet (not my tractor, but 99% identical). On mine the knob turns but I have no idea what it is supposed to do.
