Herding cattle across the highway

Local guy was hit and killed by a car, as he was moving livestock across a road.

Been stuck in them on a motorcycle before...

Which is more comforting than being stuck in Yellowstone in a traffic jam with buffalo roaming the road between vehicles, while being on a cycle.

So if you drive a small red car, and a bull charges it, is the rancher responsible for the damage?

I'd be surprised if bulls are part of the herd, normally.

You are correct BigBlue1. At least, around here - the bulls will be loaded in a trailer and moved that way. We also have a herd of buffalos down south of me about 30 miles. Fortunately, they have never come up to the fence line to look at the traffic or anything else. I enjoy stopping and watching them for a while - especially in the spring when there will be calves.

Bucee's is a tourist destination for those of us north of one. Every time we go to Ft Worth, we stop in. Who'd ever have thought a gas station/convenience store could be so big!

They've been building one in our county, on US287, for awhile now. Pretty much guaranteed to put a hurting on existing businesses.

Anyway, black cows in the road have caused a few deaths locally over the years. We nearly hit one one night, and found an open gate down the road. We herded the escapee back in to the pasture and called the sheriff's office to tell them that any fingerprints were due to putting the cow back, not rustling...just in case.

I live four miles east of the big Bucee痴 on I-45 roughly halfway between Houston and Dallas. I壇 venture to say 90% of us locals despise it. Most of the time it痴 not too bad but weekends and holidays are a nightmare for those of us who need to go from one side of the freeway to the other. About a month ago I got caught in the line for the red light pulling a trailer so I couldn稚 turn around. Was about two miles from the light. And about one mile from the stretch they run the cattle on.

When we first move down from Ak, in '82, there were still two working dairies in the immediate area. Corporate America has taken care of that about thirty year ago. Man, do I enjoy that which, I guess, I shall never have again - fresh buttermilk.
