Our city run BIG front loaders for the narrow roads streets easier to plow,all trucks have sander plows w/wings than there the BIG cat grader front plow l o n g wing....hats off to operator not so much to desk jockey's.

I work for our Municipality (I believe what you call a county in the US). Our snow fleet is :

4 - Cat 16M Graders, with wings. We have two V plows and two 11ft 1 Ways for the front of them when the drifting gets bad
2 - Western star sanding trucks with blades and wings
Cat 924 Loader
GMC 2500 with plow for smaller jobs (Mail boxes etc)

I run a township grader and service 50 miles of gravel country roads. I'm Blessed to work for a township that is financially stable. We keep current machines under 2000 hours. I push snow in a T-shirt while listening to XM radio. We have had our current machine for 4 years. Haven't had enough snow to get any good pics using it. Here's our previous machine.
