31 going to 58 and sunny.

If you like Eastern NC vinegar-based, non-sweet BBQ sauce like I do, you can't find better than Billy's Bar B Q sauce...from Tarboro, NC, near Drew. I like it, not because it shares my name, but because it is so goooood.

Next time I'm in Bridgewater, I'll be looking for the chicken.

Got the tractor out for the first time in a while yesterday and took the chainsaw back in the woods to cut a couple of dead oaks into firewood. Got them split just before dark. Not dry enough to burn this year, so I stacked it on a pallet for next year. I was impressed with the performance of an old chain that I used my new sharpener on. Got more to do today.

How does one really cook okra correctly?

One simple way is to just slice, sprinkle a bit of olive oil, and grill on the gas/charcoal grill...no slime, and gives just the right texture with a slight crunch.

Growing up my father used to put okra in soup and we'd swear there were eels in there there was so much slime.
Cooking it "right" is pretty important. Reminds me of eggplant and brussel sprouts, no appeal to me unless cooked right.
I think the grill is a great idea, burn that slime off.

Warmer day today, into high fifties. I'm headed out to fling fertilizer this morning and may disc it in this afternoon. Should be a fun day.
Might still be too wet to disc, one way to find out, and I don't need to drop it all the way down anyway. Maybe a one degree slope in this field but when the ground is still wet like it is,
I've learned from experience it's like pushing snow, always better to start at the top and go down. If you can...and in this case, I can.

I took the fertilizer hopper that came with the Super A down to the dealer yesterday and was complimented on its good shape, it was all metal and original and even the flexible metal downpipe looked almost new. Pretty neat to be able to bend the pipe to drop the fertilizer where you want for side dressing. Big open chain drive, that should make some noise. Everything is dry and looks like it hasn't been used, so I wonder if I should spray some chain lube on that chain. Any of you guys ever use the fertilizer hopper on the A's through 140's?
I would think most chains should be lubed.

32 here this morning on its way up to 38. Feels wonderful outside!

The neighbors have lost water to their house, so will head down there to see what help is needed. Doubtful it is frozen pipes as it hasn't been cold enough lately but hoping it isn't their pump as that is never good news. The road gets pretty bad down at their end, so I might turn this into a reason to bring the tractor out and blade it on my way to see them. :)

Now that I have the tractor, I think I am just plotting my day around how I can come up with ways to use it. LOL

Happy Saturday everyone!

Need to pour second cup of coffee. 32° with some clouds this morning. Heading to 41° with mostly sunny skies. Snow is slowly melting. Weather forecast shows most days will see some above freezing temperatures. Taking wife to local dog show today. That will be enough exercise for both of us today.
Drew, nice to see lawn cutting this time of year. I am sure I can hold off doing that for another 4 months.
Don, Randy and Buckeye, checked our XL Fryer. No oil buildup anyplace. Good info though we will keep a eye on it when using.
jbrumberg, I use Famous Dave's Rich and Sassy BBQ sauce. Works good for wife and I. She cannot take spicy like I like. Have not done a Brisket on the Trager yet. But Tri-Tips sure come out good.
Good Morning All.

19 outside this AM. Hope to get out of the house more today. Each day is better. For both the wife and I. But I need to get outside, I am an outside person. Can you tell I want to be outside? LOL.

Today on the calendar, one month ago, I was at this time, fearful and dreading the hours as my best friend underwent surgery. In just one months time I can see the immense progress she has made. Prayers, love and a positive attitude are powerful influences in her continued recovery.

Thanking you all for those.

Hope all have a wonderful day, and are safe in whatever you do today!
