Don't forget to put fuel in it.
And dont run out of diesel. Did that ONCE in my massey, wont do that again.

Einthewoods, use cans for diesel. I must have 5 for diesel, with 2 tractors here. The closest station finally put in an offroad diesel pump, but only a few cents cheaper than onroad.

I have to do something about the seat. It's one inch of foam over a metal pan suspended by springs exactly like
those on a buckboard wagon. And the name buckboard is a fair indicator of its comfort level.

Oh, you got the deluxe seat with a foam pad. Lol

That tractor sounds fun to drive. Nice job on it.

Don thanks for the recipe, Oven just as good as the air fryer?

I like the oven better because it dries the okra out better and the corn meal mixture sticks better and it gives the okra a kind of chewy to crunchy texture. The hot air fryer blows the okra around and a lot of the coating comes off.

Good morning 34 and going into the mid 40's today
Rip great news that your wife is improving every day I'm sure your love and support have lots to do with her continued improvement
Drew all I can say is oil, oil and oil some more and it will last a life time
My son bought me an air fryer haven't used it yet may now have to wait a until spring and plug it in outside away from the house!!!
I can honestly say I have never had okra if i can get past the slime I'll have to give it a go
JB I'm a German Shepherd guy have 4 and just about every where I go have 2 of them with me, can't get out of the house alone. Friend had a great St. Bernard they are fantastic animals. I have always found that it is not the animal but how they are treated

Drew, the guy that bought my A from my wife's grandmother repainted the tractor and put a new seat on it. I would ask him where he found the seat but he died. Here is a pic though. . . .

Good morning everyone.

It never got above freezing here yesterday, but it finally did this AM; 34F presently, upper and midlevel cloud decks are stratifying with hazy and fading sunshine. Winds are picking up gusting to ~20 mph.

Eric Salop- We will be getting our 12th/13th(?) dog this Spring. Historically they have been feral strays that just showed up or shelter dogs from local kennels. A couple of years ago we started adopting rescue dogs; starting with a big and squirrelly female German Shepherd. Our last two dogs were Saint Bernard rescues. There is something about a ST. B. that makes us want to get another (maybe two). I promised wifey a vacation before we adopt again. I spent over a year committed solely to those two dogs' care as they both started to fail. They remained pain free with quality living to their ends. They both were euthanized while in my arms. We would prefer another St. Bernard rescue, but fortunately for St. B's there is more demand for rescue St. B.'s than there are St. B.'s needing rescued. The vacation is coming really soon (Costa Rica). We may even go to a breeder if necessary. It's very lonely around here w/o the dogs. I am still finding doggy goobers

Wngsprd, Ronjhall, et. al. Thank you for the suggestions on cooking okra and identifying so many barbecue sauces. I have seen some of those identified around here. I do need to buy a bottle for backup in the event that I do not feel like making it myself.

Nothing is really on my agenda today other than the "Dump Run," pick up the mail at the P.O., and make a diesel fuel run to a station down the road. I was going to address the ice damming on the roof, but it is too windy. I'll let it melt.

My + thoughts, best wishes and prayers for Riptides and wire, Buckeyefarmer, Toppop, and Ed and all others needing them.

I hope that everyone has a great day today.

Mom put okra in her soup, too much made it slimy looking but didn’t really affect it. It tastes good in vegetable soup but Lynn wouldn’t hear of it. She liked it fried and dipped in Marinara sauce, as do I.
Was up to 30 at daybreak, mid to upper 50’s later.
Getting ready to head out and make an attempt to get that tractor.

I can honestly say I have never had okra if i can get past the slime I'll have to give it a go

The slime acts like a non-colesteral egg batter to hold the cornmeal mixture on the okra. I don't like the slime either, if I don't bake the okra I put it in a vegetable soup with extra tomatoes and onions to make a gumbo and the slime dissolves away.

DABSGT- We loved our squirrelly German Shepard. She was a great dog. Bone cancer got her. I could see doing another GS rescue. I agree about responsible dog ownership. Usually the "problem dog" has a "problem" owner.

One last thing, thought you all might get a kick,

Senior Greeter

You just have to appreciate this one. Young people forget that we old people had a career before we retired.....

Charley, a new retiree-greeter at WalMart, just couldn't seem to get to work on time. Every day, he was 5, 10, 15 minutes late. But he was a good worker, really tidy, clean-shaven, sharp-minded and a real credit to the company and obviously demonstrating their "Older Person Friendly" policies.

One day the boss called him into the office for a talk. "Charley, I have to tell you, I like your work ethic, you do a bang-up job when you finally get here; but your being late so often is quite bothersome."

"Yes, I know boss and I am sorry and am working on it."

"Well good, you are a team player. That's what I like to hear.”

“Yes sir, I understand your concern and I will try harder.”

Seeming puzzled, the manager went on to comment, “I know you're retired from the Armed Forces. What did they say to you there if you showed up in the morning late so often?"

The old man looked down at the floor, then smiled. He chuckled quietly, then said with a grin…….

"They usually saluted and said, 'Good morning, Admiral, can I get your coffee, sir
