Hi all,

I'm in the market for a 3pt snowblower and am trying to decide which brand to get.

Is anyone familiar with the Walco Renegade 3pt snowblowers? I know they're made in Canada and from a specs standpoint appear to be built pretty solid. Are they better or on par than say the Meteor, Land Pride, etc.?

Below is a link to the snowblower on the Walco site and the other link provides the specs.

Walco Equipment | Agriculture, Lawn & Garden, Ontario, Walco - Snow Blower - Renegade

http://www.walcoequipment.com/file/s-1 snow blower- pusher-blade_renegade.pdf

It looks like the Walco, Land Pride and Meteor 68" versions are all right around 500lbs in weight and other specs vary slightly so I'm assuming they're all in the same ballpark as far as quality but just looking for any feedback from people that have experience with any of these.

Thanks!

I bought a used 6 ft Renegade last spring without seeing it and with little info, but it was a good price so I thought I'd go for it. It was manufactured in 2011 or 2012, but I don't think there have been any significant changes since then. By the time I got it shipped out here winter was about over, so I only got to use it once on a 5 inch storm. Seemed to work fine. Construction seems good, I haven't discovered anything that is poorly built. You may know that Walco and Marten (Meteor) are built in the same town. I believe the construction of the the two is similar, although Meteor may have gone from a 4 blade to 5 blade impeller. I do not know if 5 is really better. Maybe, maybe not.

Unfortunately we don't have snow this year so I haven't been able to do any more testing. I did convert the chute flap to hydraulic, it already had hydraulic rotation. Hope that little bit of info is useful.

Thanks Dave...that is helpful. That is interesting about Walco and Marten being build in the same town...they do seem to have very similar specs and it sounds like both are well built.

why not buy snow blower with front adapter? In my opinion, most customers will choose snow blower in front loader.

I think the Renegade is a small step up from the Meteor. I have not looked at Land Pride blowers but most their attachments look at least decent.
I don't know how much you will use a blower but all these I think are in the home owner class and would not hold up if doing very many driveways.

Well - I'm familiar with Meteor and Land Pride blowers. Both are fairly heavy duty and with normal maintenance should last a good long time. Walco - never heard of the brand. Doesn't mean it inferior - just never heard of it.

I've alway had open station tractors and this configuration does not bode well with rear mount blowers. I'm specifically talking about getting drifting snow all over your bod, all the time and things such as that. Blowing snow, with either front or rear mount, seems best done with a cabbed tractor.

I was going to suggest you look at Schulte SDX-840. Its a truly HD blower - then I checked your tractor - no fit.

In 2009 I bought my new Kubota M6040 and no longer need a blower. At 10,100# my Kubota will easily clear any berms on my mile long gravel driveway with the rear blade.

I'm sure you would be pleased with the performance from either Land Pride or Meteor snow blowers.

There isn't a lot on the internet about the Walco Renegade, so let me know if you want photos of anything. Also for my snowblower the cylinder that fit for the deflector is this one: 1.5x4x1 DA Hydraulic Cylinder Wolverine WWCL154-S | Wolverine | Brands | www.surpluscenter.com

Costs more to have a front end loader snow blower and it ties up your loader AND your 3pt hitch with the power pack.
