I'm not sure where to put this so move it if there is a better place.

I guess a blind sow does find an acorn every now and then after all. I am not usually this lucky. Here is a quick background. I have mentioned before that my buddy works at the local Mahindra dealership. He knows I run a backhoe service and do a little farming.

So he asks if I would be interested in doing a shake down on a prototype Mahindra tractor. He says prototype, maybe a better word would be a new model as there's nothing revolutionary on this tractor that I can see. Of course I wanted in.

So a couple days ago he calls and said it was ready to pick up. They are looking for input on everything from ergonomics to functionality.

The tractor is a Mahindra 8100 cab, front assist and FEL. Mahindra says its 105hp. They weren't sure how much it weighed so I ran it across the local feed mill's scales and it tipped the scales at 10840 lbs full of fuel and no operator.

Here it is on the trailer fresh from the dealer.

No added weights or loaded tires.

The tractor has a non synchronized 3 speed range box (H,M,L) and a synchronized 4 speed gear box (1,2,3,4). It has a fwd/N/rev power shuttle on the left side of the column plus an inching pedal on the left side of the floor.

I had a big disc borrowed and the first thing I did was road the tractor about 16 miles round trip to get the disc. GPS had the tractor at 21 mph on level ground. It steered and tracked really well at speed on pavement and gravel.

After checking the fluids and setting the air pressure at 28 psi front and 12 psi rear I took that big disc down to a 30 acre bottom to see what it could do. The tractor had 11 hrs on it and they said to start using it.

The 8100 is pulling this heavy disc buried to the disc axles easily at 4 mph in sand and sandy loam. I could possibly gear up from 2/M to 3/M but the ground is too rough with 45 years of gopher mounds.

I did get a chance to put out a round bale with it and you couldn't really tell there was a bale on front.

Any ways I do have permission from Mahindra to post up some about the tractor, I'm going to post up a bit as I use the tractor and see how it shakes out. I will add photo's as I go or if anyone wants something specific I will be happy to get it.

I don't know why the last pic didn't work properly. I tried to reload it several times.

You caught my attention and i'm going to follow this post. I need to scrap the mf when it becomes totally disfunctional. Lot of issues and i have had it with that money pit. I cant seem to find a new tractor brand that shows me anything or really impresses me at all. If you would, keep an eye on the emissions stuff and let me know how it does. Also make it work like pulling the disc and setting bales and stuff and keep track how she does. Panty waste tractor assignments and a good sales pitch don't pass the smell test for me anymore. I will say mahindra is a go in say kansas city and they are tryng to break into the market share out in the farm belt. The secret is not the name, but the product. And with these new tractors you kind of hold your nose and pick which one won't fall apart and which dealer pulls the fewest stinker bull crap.

What is the difference between the 8100 and a M105? Is it just a 2018 M105?

Check the fuel use when it is on ground engaging implements.

My 8560 has lots of power and likes fuel when the MFWD and throttle are opened up.

Will do Phillip! Maybe too far from you but Sawgrass Equipment out of Stillwater, OK. will shoot straight with you. Ask for Bobby.

Kneedeep, I am pretty sure this isn't an M105P or S. This tractor has 3 ranges and a 4 speed synchronized main transmission plus power shuttle. I will find for sure.

So far I have been running that big disc down to the axles with front assist at 2000 to 2300 rpm at about 4 mph. I don't have any hard numbers yet on the fuel. I will have gallons per hour pretty soon. So far it seems to be doing well.

You say big disk, how big? Looks like an 8-9 footer to me with 22"-24" pans?
