Look how quite your loader is. My Kubota loader sounds the same way. Then compare that to the previous video. That’s why I don’t think the audio is any good in that video. I’m on your side here but you should have went faster for a longer period.

I could even hear a squeak in 94 bullits loader like it needed grease. And the hydraulic pump seemed to make quite a bit of noise too, maybe it is just the resonance of the sound in his cab. That video of me was made a long time ago, and the point was to show how slow a hydro tractor will go when you need to pull a pallet out of your 50,000 dollar pickup truck. Give me a hydro for that every day of the week. :)

I’ve never operated a compact tractor with a cab but the Kubota CTL cab is quite. I can share some brush guard paint with my truck bed, but the HST is definitely much better for loading or unloading vehicles. And I didn’t like the auto throttle on my tractor. 2600 rpm isn’t needed for light work.

My L39 even being a GST is a lot better unloading fancy Pick-Ups andworking close to people than my Max28 Shuttle as the Kubota as a much nicer sensitive loader control valve. A sudden unintentional movement results in Opps, sorry! The HST L45/L47/ M59 would be better.

I was looking at buying a tinker toy hystat tractor once, and in the manual it said: In cold weather, to start the tractor and let the tractor warm up for 30 minutes before use...

HUH? 30 minutes?? That's just crazy!! Some of the jobs I had, I wanted to be DONE in 30 mins, NOT just getting started... lol

Best place for a hystat is on a lawn mower, at least the whirling blades cover up all the noise the moaning hydro makes... lol

SR

I do not like waiting for my HST to warm up either and I am in a moderate climate. But I like an HST. Of the gear styles I would only get a Power Shuttle going forward which is my preferred transmission of all. I have an old 80s crash box gear as a brush hogger and it is fine, but I would not get another of those.

I keep mine in my unheated but 3/4 underground garage that in the coldest days gets to about 35-40 degrees. I glow the plugs for 3 seconds, idle it out of the garage and increase the revs to around 1600 and I crawl up to the main driveway... And I go at it.

Am I supposed to be waiting longer, I'm not getting any performance/audible/driveability indicators that the fluid is cold.

In your operators manual is a chart showing based on ambient temperature the required warm up times.

Here is a newer Kioti: Judge for yourself how bad it whines.

How is it when it's working? When I'm plowing snow for instance, the HST will nearly drown out the sound of the engine. For some with hearing deficiencies it is the pitch of the whine, more than the presence of it. Another comment I hear often is "Don't need to shift..." when I'm plowing I switch from Low to Med range and back again on nearly every pass. With my old 275 it was just as easy to keep it in gear 4 range low, and use the shuttle shift.
It's really just a matter of preference after all. My first choice was a geared 2017 L3901... My preference though, was to keep the $6000+- which I saved by purchasing what I have. :D

If you use forks on your loader, snowblow or run a mower then get the HST. I've used gear drive and EHSS for 30+ years and I'm not going back.

You do get better fuel economy with the geared tranny.

Who cares? That might amount to a McDonald’s hamburger over the course of a year unless you’re working commercial.

Jeez... all this whining... pun intended, glad I have all geared tractors but one... which I still don't care for. Give me a geared, shuttle shift any day...
