In 1991 I was in a second hand store and seen one ( it had a handle)for $1 the inside was stained jet black. Knowing I'd paid $74 for the original back in 1974 I purchased it.
Took it home and for anyone who may no be aware of this way of cleaning put in a couple faults teeth cleaning pellets & it came out as shiny as the day it was made.

My wife and I got married at 19 and 20 respectively. She has been cleaning my cups and thermos with teeth tablets since day one, (learned it from her mother).

I have a Stanley thermos and used it for years... one time I was running dozer and on logging road and it fell off and got buried.. I was bummed... until the next spring when the roads dried up enough to get back in there... low and behold, smoothing up the road, found my thermos.. opened it up and the coffee was still hot.. best coffee I ever had.

Mine is still near new as a 92 model.
We've spent a lot of time together also.

I just noticed that there are threads below the cup. Never noticed for all these years. I once drove back to a job site 100+ miles to retrieve the cup that is on it.

Is there a larger cup offered? That's one of the little things I always wondered why the cup was so small.

It's small so that when you drink your hot beveridge (that's been in the thermos half the day) it seems to STAY hot all the way to the last drop!

I have several of them in the basement, but I cant get down there now to prove it. I used to have one (late 60's) that used a large cork for a stopper.
