I doubt it was the well or pump that was the problem...

With HF, it's hit or miss whether what you buy is junk THAT day or if it will last a little while...

Apparently, her luck is like mine!

I'd like to know what type of well she had that an 8750 wouldn't start it... It sure wasn't a regular 2" jet, or 4" residential well. ...

Me too. I can run my whole house on my 10KW Miller Bobcat even tho 8K would suffice. Maybe when she got it home and her hubby found out it didn't come with a wheel kit or battery he told her to take it back.

Here's my guess: They are Harbor Freight buyers. Their power went out. They hooked the generator to the dryer outlet and threw the generator breaker. They never did pull the Main or the meter. So, the generator died laughing.

That's very possible too. They were trying to supply power to the whole neighborhood on their HF gen.

Well, I was there when she brought it back. I heard her conversation with the manager and I saw the genset... The generator did have a wheel kid, not sure about the batt...

She wanted to return it, NOT a replacement.

It looked like smoke came out of it, other than that, it looked new.

She talked like a knowledgeable lady about mechanical things and said it crapped out on first use.

The only thing I heard about a pump was, what the manager told me after she left...

From what "I" gathered, it was a "buy once cry once" deal...

I was at HF a couple months ago, early morning first day of a sale where they were selling those 8750 gen sets. I wasn't there for one but there were 10 ahead of me that were. They didn't come with battery or wheel kit and the sale ad stated that yet the first 3 I saw go out the door didn't buy the wheel or battery.

Now I know why she returned it. She let all the SMOKE OUT.

I was there for and bought a smaller 3500W inverter generator to use with my camper.

I went to HF on Saturday to purchase a predator 3500 inverter generator. They were sold out so I asked for a rain check as the last day of the sale was Sunday, the manger said they had 40 coming in on Wednesday but close to 30 of them were already sold and she figured the rest would be sold before they even arrived.

I know honda and yamaha are the gold standards, but I have read many positive reviews on the predator and figured it is worth a shot. I think I will purchase the one year extended warranty for $80, you can get the two year for $130. Even with the warranty it is still $200 less than Northerns powerhouse which looks exactly the same as the predator and $1200 less than the honda.

When I asked the manager who did their warranty work she said they just give you a new one and then you would get the 90 day warranty or would have to purchase the extended warranty again. I didn't ask but I think if you bring it back within the first 90 days the extended warranty would still be good. I will have to ask when I pick it up on Wednesday.

My wife insisted on electric start which the honda did not have on their 3000 watt inverter.

When I was at Northern I asked if they work on the predator I was told by the salesman they do. Which tells me I would be able to purchase parts through them if needed.

That's the one I bought in Dec. plus bought the extended warranty because the 90 day will be up before I take it camping. It runs super quiet (less than 56db at 24'.
Per instructions I ran mine for 6 hours with about a 70% load to break it in then changed the oil. Very happy with the easy electric start but it is heavier than expected. Mine weighs about 110 lb with a full tank of gas. I made a lifting bracket to use my garage electric winch to lift it high enough to get in the truck bed and its short enough to fit under the tonneau cover.
