Wow! Thanks again for all the great advice and insights! I especially appreciate the detailed overview of the effort and time involved in switching over from the BH to 3 point. It sounds like the B2600 setup is a lot like the Mahindra one I'm looking at, which hooks up with just two pins. There are plenty of videos on youtube showing this process, but none of them say anything about what's involved to switch back over to 3 point after the BH is off. In any case, I'm okay with it - it's totally worth it to me to have versatility. I appreciate the recommends to get a dedicated digger, but really, this one tractor is all I'm going to be able to afford for a while.

We're going to look at some tractors at both the San Angelo Rodeo and the Houston Livestock Show - I'm told there are often good deals offered at those shows. My preference would be for a 1538 HST with FEL, BH, shredder, box blade, auger, and trailer, but we'll see what's available.

Yes, most of the modern compact tractors use a nearly identical backhoe connection method, so unless you buy a Kioti or certain LS/New Holland models (these have a large flat platform that you back over and it connects up to the bottom of the tractor), you'll see that most all have the subframe with the lower Backhoe pin cradle that you lower the backhoe on to, then you use the backhoe boom and roll the backhoe mount up to align the upper holes and you simply push the 2 pins through. It's extremely simple and quick.

Did I ever mention to you... I wouldn't take a Mahindra tractor in a dare if it was free? I'd rather get oral from an alligator.

Just a quick comment on getting a backhoe on and off. A good dolly for your backhoe takes the pain and the time out of the process but you'll likely have to build your own unless you're fortunate enough to have one available that you can buy. However there are enough ideas on this board to make building your own not that difficult.

Both the Kioti and the Kubota recommended are considerably smaller (read lighter with less HP) than the Mahindra you're looking at. Not a good thing for a tractor, unless all your doing is mowing. Certainly worse for any digging.

A Kioti CK2610 with FEL and BH would be right around $25K and would be a GREAT machine to do what you are asking, and a whole bunch more. It is also not a DPF/DEF engine, and it is in my opinion a much better tractor than a Mahindra. It also will likely cost less, so you win with a better built unit and a lower price.

Can you show me a tractor under 75 hp that uses a DPF and DEF. I have not seen one by any manufacturer. These engines are not high hp for their size and don’t produce as much NOX gasses to reduce. I have only seen tractors over 100 hp use DEF/SCR/Adblue or what ever you want to call it.

I think that was an either/or not " and". The Mahindras do not use a DPF. JD and Case starts SCR at 75hp, I think.

Once again thanks for all the advice! I bought a 2538 HST with FEL, box blade, shredder, 9 inch auger, quick hitch, backhoe and trailer. Having the cruise control mod put in and I also bought a TSC carry all frame and some PT lumber to build a platform on it.

Congratulations and thanks for getting back with us on what your choices were. Good luck with everything.

Yes Mahindra uses a DOC as do some others, some went with a DPF. None under 75 hp uses DEF. DEF is a non issue for all tractors under 75 hp. He was talking about a Kioti CK2610 which is a 24.5 hp tractor which I believe does not have to meet final tier IV emissions, so no DOC or DPF since the engine is under 25 hp. But Mahindra does use DEF on their tractors over 75 hp.
