Subscribing. I have been meaning to replace my suction hose (7 in the diagram) since it has deteriorated and it looks simple to replace. I don稚 have an engine oil issue but wonder if replacing the pump seal and o ring would be good to do at the same time if not too involved.

I'd just change the hose.

It is a bit of a pain, so I personally would not bother if there was no crankcase oil level increase or no leakage where the pump bolts up to the block.
When I put it back together I did used the old oring. Normally I'd change it but I did not have one on hand and it looked fine. It is not under pressure, just keeps engine oil from seeping out.

Good point, I do tend to grow scope of my repairs.
