Instead of taking cab in Vegas, I wondered about these guys. From airport.

Never tried them. How hard to get set up?

Cheers.....Coffeeman

I prefer Lyft. I find it much preferable to traditional cabs. Set up was easy, install the app, put in a credit card and you're good to go, I did my first ride within five minutes of signing up. I do find it annoying that you can only use a smartphone, you can't even access your account from a desktop computer.

I'm sure different cities are different, but I find that in downtown areas I'm usually about 30 seconds away from the closest driver. Even in outlying areas they show you where the nearest driver is and give an estimate of how long it will take him. It's much better than standing on a street corner wondering when a cab will happen by.

Most cities have pretty tight rules about who can pick up passengers at the airport, you may want to google that before you go.

If you are going to a casino their are shuttle buses that will take you right to the casino.

I also prefer Lyft, very easy to set up as others have said. I use them fairly regularly, always had a clean car and courteous drivers.
They will tell you how long and what the fare will be before you even use the app to request a ride

Lyft and Uber are both fairly political but Lyft started sending me emails about their position. That was the last time I used them.
Before Lyft was the only one that allowed you to add a tip. But now Uber also allows you to add a tip.
In Vegas it’s the way to go. Just download the app and be prepared to give them your debit/credit card. It’s nearly that simple.
The one feature with Uber is the vehicle size. An Uber X is a normal vehicle while the Uber XL is for more than 4 or if you have a lot of stuff.
All the drivers I’ve had have been fine.

Used them for the first time in September of 2016 while in Charleston for the step-son's wedding. We (the parents of both the bride and the groom) were out to dinner with the kids. The rest of the wedding party was coming into town and the kids were going to meet them. We said something about getting back to the hotel and the bride said "Don't worry - we've got an Uber coming." HUH??? LOL! Been hooked on them ever since!!

I was doing some work in NYC last year about this time. Cost of Uber or Lyft from LaGuardia into Manhattan was only about $25 - so MUCH cheaper than a cab. Was at a conference in Orlando last September and took an Uber from the airport to the hotel. Was about $15. The "blue airport shuttle service" was going to be $35 and I would have been in a queue to the get to the hotel. Uber got me there with no other stops.

Used Uber in Atlanta last year - the driver was actually a middle school principal! His wife worked later hours than him, so when he got off work mid-afternoon, he'd drive for a couple of hours and make some extra money. Gotta love it!

If I remember correctly, the main difference between Uber and Lyft is that Lyft would give you a fixed price on the ride. Uber gives you an very close estimate, so if there's more traffic than their routing app anticipated, your actual cost for the ride could be a couple bucks higher than you were originally quoted. As far as I know, Lyft doesn't do that.

Politics aside, you can't beat the service(s)!!

How do they get away with running what is essentially an unlicensed, unregulated taxi service? There's gotta be some loophole in the law or I'm sure they would have been shut down by now. I know the "explanation" is that these drivers "just happened to be going your way" and are giving you a ride and that the fee is just "sharing expenses", but we all know that's BS.

If you have a good smartphone and you're good with the apps, Uber and Lyft are the best thing since sliced bread for getting around big unfamiliar cities for me. I haven't yet an unhelpful or unfriendly driver.

I've wondered the same. Just another example of the excesses of gov't regulation.

We use uber regularly on vacations, never had a bad experience.
