Hello, I need some help trying to diagnose a small hydraulic leak on my 2002 S250 skid steer. serial #520711001 & Above. The machine has foot or hand controls and 2900 hours. I'm the new owner of this machine and by looking at the bowels of this machine Im guessing this leak has been happening for YEARS. I power washed and cleaned up under the cab the best i could and then let it dry out. I believe the leak is coming from the hydraulic control valve (advanced hand control system). I say this be cause because when checking it out I located two green plastic caps that sit vertical on what I would think is the back side of the valve as it sits in the machine. This is above the right drive motor as you sit in the cab. The diagrams I've looked at lead me to this particular valve because of the two plastic caps. I dont know the purpose of the caps as they dont look like they protect anything?? Anyways.......I found oil leaking from the green cap area and both had oil in them when I slid them off. Anyone know if this is a common leak area or what i may be in for? I've been told that the valve may possibly have to be respooled????? After looking at the diagram of the valve I understand there are a lot of variables to what could be causing this leak. I know for a fact its not leaking from the top or the bottom. I also think it leaks whether the machine is running or not. Thanks in advance for the help

Spool seals. The oil under the green caps is the tip off. The metal cap under the green caps has a weep hole in it.
Thanks Jabonee! Im sure this isnt an urgent fix but does anyone know how detailed this repair is? What seal kit I may be looking at to purchase? As you can tell Im not too mechanically inclined. I ask because I see a couple different seal kits on the parts diagram. Thanks again

You should not need a whole seal kit, just the spool seals. PT# ends in 274. Don't assume the issue is minor. Those seals can let loose at any time emptying your hydraulic tank. Seals can be replaced without removing the valve. If your not handy with a wrench you my want to get a estimate from your dealer.:thumbsup:
I picked up the two seals and one o-ring per spool today from Bobcat. About $26 for the six pieces. Guy said I probably didnt need the o-rings but I got em anyway. Bobcat said 4-5 hrs to do the job @ $90 /hr

Due all 4 spool seals when your in there. Save doing the job twice.

One thing that pisses me off is when people get on here and ask questions about their problems and once answered they never update to say what exactly the problem was and what exactly the fix was. So here is an update on my leaky valve. THANK YOU Jabonee!!!!! My mechanic changed the seals and orings in my lift and tilt spools and that fixed my leak. He charged me $250 USD. Thanks again!
