Mahindra has been building Jeeps that look just like ours since WW2. And International designed tractors since 1967 at least.

They had a write up on it yesterday in the Detroit News. It's an actual old style Jeep with a 4 cyl diesel/stick trans and 4X4 running gear. Not actually an ATV, but it is speed limited to 45 MPH and will be sold in the states as an ATV. So, you can buy a WWII inspired vehicle and drive it in the US even without air bags and all the other safety stuff that would not allow you to buy one otherwise. I am waited for the VW Superbeatle ATV..... I already have a Jeep.

When I saw this thread I thought that it was going to be about the Intimidator UTVs made in Arkansas. They partnered with Mahindra.

I'm not sure there is a market niche for the Roxor Jeep clone. It may be shunned by Jeep enthusiasts. It only has two seats and no dump bed so UTV buyers may not be interested either. I bought a 1998 Wrangler for less than the cost of a UTV and have a real Jeep, made in the USA, that I can drive on the highway.

I like it. Looks neat. I won't buy one as we don't a desert or rocks to play in.....and my son is just not an ATV freak like I was growing up....but they look cool.

I don't get it. Why copy an old CJ7 body style? If you are going to copy Jeep in making a UTV, why not a flat fender?

It might be popular as an LSV, a Low Speed Vehicle like golf carts driven in retirement communities. With a windshield, lights and turn signals it meets the federal requirements except at 45 mph it's too fast. An LSV is limited to 25 mph, which is silly considering they can be driven on roads with speed limits up to 45 mph where local laws allow.

If Mahindra could govern down the speed and offer an LSV model, that would be a market niche that might work for them.

Hey JerryK,
Take it from an old IT guy. Use notepad. Notepad sterilizes the "smart" hyperlink behavior that never seems to work right in Windows. Copy the link into Notepad, Reselect it and copy and paste it into whatever. Works much better.

It's not in the auto market. It's a UTV, not street legal, and meant to go against the Mule/Big Red/Rhino. Dump bed is coming.

Its not copying jeep they built jeeps for the war and have always had the design. This also will not be at your normal Mahindra dealer... its a different branch of Mahindra bringing it in and will be sold at large ATV/UTV outlets.... IMO the new 1000cc 83hp 65mph Retriever is a better choice than the Roxor

I listened to a libertarian podcast the other day where a car enthusiast made an interesting comparison between this non-street legal version and one that is fully compliant with all government mandates... His argument was that having a Jeep clone that has none of the mandated equipent allows customers to see what an effect such government regs have on price. I'm sure there are many other variables and it's not a simple apples-to-apples comparison, but seeing that an otherwise road-worthy vehicle costs 1/3rd of the cost of a similar new complaint veichle is interesting.

Since golf carts can easily be made street legal here, I wonder how many of them will end up on the road (legally). I also wonder how quickly our city ordinances will change as soon as one of the high society kids gets run over and killed in the family golf cart.
