What could Yanmar improve?

Good post

I took this picture of a new YT235 on the lot. Seems like it'd be way more convenient with the pinned adjusters and extendable link arms like above, as long as they were built robust enough.

Yeah, from what I can see, those adjusters on the lower links look even more robust than the ones they sent me.

But taking away the extendable arm ends was stupid.....take something that works good and leave it OFF.....saves them a few bucks I guess, at the expense of making a good tractor a great tractor. Way to go, Yanmar.....need more bullets for shooting yourself in the foot ?

Somebody chime in on Kubota.....can you find one new on the lot without extendable ends ?

Kubota's economy L tractors don't have extendable link arms and have the same setup as the YT235. That's why I brought it up because not having extendable link arms is a feature of economy machines, not feature-rich machines like the new Yanmar YT's.

Hopefully Yanmar will make an upgrade kit available. It's not a deal breaker by any means but sure would be a nice-to-have.

I am not sure if the MX series Kubota's have extendables links either. The MX4800 has turnbuckles but the two other machines in the MX class have extendable links like the Yanmar YT347 and YT359 have. For the money Kubota wants for the MX I was not very impressed. I'd get a 40 series Deere before I'd get a machine from the Kubota MX series.

What else could Yanmar improve? Well, I love my 424 TLB, but...

-The spin seat and its control levers are fussy. My dealer had real trouble demo'ing it on the lot. Even when I raise/spin it, I'm not sure I'm doing it right, so clunky is that operation. Given that you have to spin it to move the tractor, this should be far easier. Part of the difficulty is getting leverage to raise it while standing on the ground. The whole thing needs re-thinking.

-Why, on a tractor that is marketed as THE "rough terrain" compact do you NOT have valve stem shields on the wheels or standard protection screening over the hydraulics cooling fan assembly?

-The factory option work lights are... meh. I'd think a factory option would mean a factory-installed switch near the control panel, not reaching for separate switches on each light. Also, incandescent bulbs are not great. Those should be LEDs by now. This is just a suggestion, but I bet the first manufacturer that starts offering a proper LED light bar(s) as a factory option on their ROPS will see a jump in sales.

-Put the Woods BH75 backhoe on this tractor! I bet it could handle it. The BH65 (B65) looks just a tad small on this machine, because it is.

-SSQA option. There are subcompacts out there with this. C'mon Yanmar.

-Pallet forks should not cost $1000. Maybe this and the lack of an SSQA are related? Hmmm.

All in all, I love this machine, for a lot of reasons I discuss here. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.

All good points;

I think SSQA is tricky on smaller machines. They would open it up to safety concerns.

I especially appreciate the feedback on the light kit - I went aftermarket and am happy.

Really curious about your aftermarket lights. Any suggestions?

Safety concerns: Yeah, I for one would probably put some hydraulic boom pole on my tractor and get myself in trouble. But shucks. Kubota BX25s have SSQAs!

I just put a pair of these forward facing on my roll bar with a switch on the dash.....blows the hood bulb lights away for the amount of light you get.

Nah....they are just being cheap. When I bought my 33hp New Holland 1925 in 1998, they told me they weren't available for that loader on it. Quick search on the net, I found ATI in (get this) New Holland, Pa, that makes a one for any tractor loader.

Sorry I'm new to tractors. What is SSQA?
