Hi, all -
I've been lurking for a few weeks and have already learned quite a bit. Too many informative threads!
And I'm gonna need them as we are taking delivery of our first tractor in April, a Mahindra 2555. We are caretakers for a 70 acre property that had been in the same family since 1850, and last saw use as a poultry farm until 1960. Forest has overtaken field, walls need fixing, roads need building, streams need bridging...just for starters.
Much of the back 40 will remain unscathed, as it had mainly served as a source for firewood and not much else. The first order of business is to retore the place to look like a working farm, without actually being one (for the immediate future). No critters about the place, except for Petey the goat, who lives like a king in his own converted chicken coop. We do have the luxury of having no timetable on any of this. The boss will not let me go near the tractor so I won't be the one who inflicts the first scratch. But I will be the guy handling most of the internet banter.
Anyway, I'll try to remember to use the Search function as much as possible so as not to re-ask what has already gone before, but I'll probably break that promise before I get to 10 posts.
