I built my enclosure a few years ago and it has worked as planed. 1/8th steel with 1/4 bottom. It is lockable, folding down front for easy loading, fan to keep things cool and a custom exhaust. It has keep us warm a few times. It was an enjoyable project and we still get to use the generator as a portable. It has its own dedicated street light so the surrounding area will be lit in the event of a power failure and features a wireless auto start.

I watched your video on U-tube, didn't put it together you were a member here. Custom Generator Shelter - YouTube

Really nice shed

That is pretty cool man....look at the generator head on that thing. Huge. What are the specs of that yellow beast? I am sure back in 1977 generators were fairly uncommon. The funeral home close to my office bought one back in the 70s as well. And I guess our hospital had one as well....but other than that they were fairly uncommon around here. I guess the first one I ever fooled with was a Honda EU3000....buddy had one then I ended up purchasing one I February 2007. Now have 2 champion 2000 watt inverters and a 10KW military unit. I rarely use them.

it is a 30 kw head on the unit, (I bought it used, with a blown engine, and the old chrysler industrial flathead was off of a combine (I had rebuilt the engine a few years before I replaced the machine), had to make the bell housing, and but the two units together, the generator head is a few years newer than the engine,

the biggest need we have is water,
we have cattle and on a hot day they can drink over 2000 gallon a day really hot day maybe 3000,

yes I have a 9000 gallon storage tank, but summer I need to fill it ever two sometimes three days and winter time I fill twice a week,

I can do (normally a few day outage), if the water tank in on the top two thirds,

Wow, that looks slick! I wouldn't have expected any less from you Paul. I see one problem though -- that looks so professional I'd worry the power company will come by during their periodic transformer inspections and think it was one of their units!

Lol a few years ago we lost a transformer about 50 from the enclosure. Well the power company came in with their bucket truck and on the way up to the transformer he noticed the enclosure. He stopped and asked me what it was. I told him it was something National Defence put there. He actually turned pale lol. He said I don遞 want to die here tonight. I laughed so much. The power guys were very impressed which was cool. Thanks for your kind words.
