This article on Brazil nuts cautions that they are also high in saturated fat. So it's two edged sword. Did your source cite the study that found such startling benefits, Don?

It also looks like Brazil nuts are high in oxalate, not good if you're prone to kidney stones.

The amount of saturated fat in the 4 nuts per month is 3.2 grams for comparison. I don't think anyone would consider that high intake per month. (One steak has 21 grams of saturated fat.)
In the oxalate study you linked, 100 grams of Brazil nuts were used or 25 nuts, close to 6 times the amount needed for the cholesterol benefit. Also "It seems that decreasing animal protein and sodium intake is more effective in treating calcium oxalate and uric acid kidney stones than restricting calcium or oxalates."

Here are my sources and links. I enjoy your concerns, they give me incentive to do research.

"..... I just have a hard time "taking it easy"."- LS

It's really hard to just "dial back" all that "productive energy" and just relax and take care of oneself when the "Never-Ending List" is on one's mind. And some people just can not relax; it's not in their "blood."

Not to make you "Paranoid," but when it comes to disability insurance claims a little "paranoia" may be a good thing.;):(

I hope that you have a decent day today as well. Hang in there.

35°F and partly cloudy this morning, going up to 54° today. Weather man is not sure what we should expect for tomorrow, either rain or snow or some combination of the two. Looks like we should be back in the 60s by next weekend.

No real solid plans for this weekend. I have plenty of things on the honey-do list, and a few received a gentle reminder at breakfast this morning. I guess we'll see how the day plays out. I'm surely not getting a lot done so far. Tomorrow will probably be a studio day.

60 degrees going for a high of 81 today. I started working on the lawns yesterday, doing some dethatching with the Mantis tiller dethatching attachment, and mowing with the bagger. I also made one small error and fell on the concrete steps at the back of the shop and did a back flip off there onto the grass. As I was falling, I was thinking "sure hope nothing breaks." So I was so terribly tired and sore that I went to bed at 5 p.m. yesterday, moved from the bed to my recliner about 2 a.m. this morning, then slept until after 5 a.m. And surprisingly enough, almost no soreness this morning, so I better get out there and get back to work on the yard. I did the front yesterday, now need to work on the backyard.

Bird, glad you are doing well after your back flip. Ed

Randy and Jay, thanks for bringing my senses back. I was really perturbed at the "system" when "venting" on my previous post. At this point, I don't think I would even be able to last 10 min. working on the project. It is definitely on hold. I have appts. scheduled w/ ortho and we'll see what he says. I just have a hard time "taking it easy".

Anyway, supposed to be like a spring day today, then cold and windy tommorow.

Ed, glad to hear Mom and wifey doing better.

All those needing prayers, they are sent.

Have a great day everyone!

Prayers sent for your knee and your sitting around stress. Ed

Been out cleaning the garage now that there’s room with the equipment moved to the new building, what a mess you get when crowded.
Off to see the 6 year old’s basketball game.

Off to see the 6 year old’s basketball game.

A basketball seems like an awful big ball for a 6 year old. Do they use an age appropriate sized ball and lower basket?

Here is another new fact of the day from Julieanne Hever's book "Idiots Guide to Plant-Based Nutrition". (second edition) (She held cooking classes on the Cruise.)

"In one clinical study, a single serving of Brazil nuts (20 grams or approximately 4 nuts), significantly lowered LDL-c ("bad" cholesterol) and raised HDL-c ("good" cholesterol) within 9 hours of consumption, and these new levels remained for 30 days."

Mmmmm, I like Brazil nuts. Didn’t know what they were as a kid as they had a different name, now politically incorrect.
