Yanmar YT359 ROPS
My YT 359 ROPS was delivered today and got the opportunity to take into the woods and do some loader work to clear out some snow berms from our recent snows.

My wife operated the tractor to move some big boulders that were "excavated" during a recent kitchen addition to a new "rock garden".
It was the first time she operated a tractor, and she was able to scoop up and move 200-300 lb rock without any trouble. She was all smiles. She had done a lot of hedge row restoration by hand the last two summers. This season's work will be done with the tractor and Ratchet Rake.

The tractor is incredibly easy to drive and as many people have said: "It operates just like a car". Auto throttle is great and I found the engine/transmission noise very tolerable. Fit and finish is fantastic.

Upcoming projects are grading around the new addition and cleaning out overgrown areas of our property.

I need also to skid out Hop Hornbeam/Ironwood trees as part of our forest improvement program. Fortunately these are not very large (< 10" diameter), but there are a lot of them. These trees make great firewood, so I do not want to leave them to rot. While surfing today, I ran across a Norwood Skid-Wench, which is a 3pt hydraulic capstan wench with a log skid for $1500. Definitely not a Farmi 501 (~>$5K), but I do not need a 10,000 lb wench for the trees I am taking. Even the biggest Hop Horn Beam log will be less than 2000 lb.

I did some searching and it does not appear many people have used these. The factory show room is ~one hour away. I am going to check them out, and if they are reasonable, I will get one.

I would be a little concerned about having a wench do that kind of work, just sayin'

Sure sounds great! My wife is getting accustomed - slowly which means more time for me!

I've done a fair amount of research on that winch and it has been pretty favorable. You might want to look at this posting on the subject as well, and maybe this one too.

If you purchase the winch, make sure you let us all know what you think of it.

This is one of the only pics I've seen of a 359 without a cab. It looks awesome, congratulations!
