RNG, We had huse net and it was . We swapped to Excede and it was not great but much better. (I know my spelling is off.)

I started off with satellite service in '10 here with HughesNet. In '12 there was an equipment problem and HughesNet wanted several hundred dollars to replace it, so I switched to Exede for free. Perfect name for the thing, as I was always exceeding my data cap. And at first, there wasn't any way to buy more, and all you could get through it was email once you'd exceeded your data allocation. It got a little better, but was always slow, and then service started to go out for no apparent reason. I'd call, they'd say there was nothing wrong, but all of a sudden it would start working again with no changes on my end. I'd had enough of that, and last year switched back to HughesNet when my local satellite dealer found a 100 Gb/month deal for me. The techs at HughesNet don't seem to be any smarter than those at Exede, and the service is no faster or reliable, but at least I haven't had to pay more to keep the service on because I've used too much data in any given month. Still keeping my eye out for a WiMax or cellular alternative, but being geographically impaired it's unlikely that'll happen anytime soon.:confused3::pullinghair:

Ron, I use AT&t's app called CALL PROTECT. It works excellent and is getting better and better. The people who have it report the telemarketers and they either block them from your phone or let you know before you answer. If it is a new number telemarketer it will get through but you have the privilege of reporting them to help out the other owners of the app. My PO level of unwanted calls is way down. Of course I aways put the calls that do get through on the iPhone block list and on the app's block list after reporting them. The app does not work on older iPhones, that's one reason I updated to the SE. SE and above are ok.

eye doc said my astigmatism was getting worse, but not a big change from last year and my lack of cataracts was good.
Best part is I don't have to change out lenses in three pairs of glasses.
Am corrected to 20/20 but pretty blind on distances without glasses. And I can't wear contacts.
I'm just job security for that eye glass place since I'm so hard on glasses.
I've actually run over two pairs with the rear wheels of my tractor in the last ten years.
Since I'm farsighted and can't see well at all up close with my glasses,
just envision ;) hooking up the pto to your tractor for the bush hog, and you have an old tshirt on with no pocket.
So you just rest your expensive prescription glasses on the lug of that oh so convenient tractor tire,
and when you are done, you are slimed in grease and off you go to the GoJo and hose.
Then back to the tractor where the story ends poorly.
and yes, after the second time, never done that again.
Now I consider tractor tires and glasses to be opposite sides of the magnet...

Funny part is first time it did not break the glasses. Was in PA in muddy ground and the glasses were pressed into the mud with almost no damage. Unfortunately a few rocks put some
small scratches in the lens. Talk about taking a licking...I was amazed they still worked.

Need to wait another hour before I can go out, even with sunglasses on I'll just get a headache.

Paid too much for landscaping fabric staples at Lowes, in bags of 75 instead of bulk like I bought them online last time. What a rip for low spec Chinese steel.

Good Morning!!!! 44F @ 6:00AM. Rain showers early becoming a steady light rain for the afternoon. Thunder possible. High 47F. Winds SSE at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 70%.

Hope we don't get a repeat of Wednesday's weather. Stopped on the way to town yesterday to help my next closest neighbor catch a cow and her calf, and he told me that the big lightning bolt I saw then hit his chain link fence. He was sitting on the front porch about 30' away at the time, and watched it sizzle down a big chunk of it. I can't imagine how loud it was, as the thunderclap was ear shattering here! March is keeping the lions well riled so far, with not much sign of the lambs, inside or out.

I've been using SPAM filters on my email accounts for a long time, and can't remember the last time I saw one of those scam letters make it through. The giveaway is always the awkward wording. I think they get it from being former British colonies.:laughing::laughing: (sorry, Eric). :D

Do you have any friends or neighbors you could ask for doctor recommendations, Ed? I've had pretty good luck with that, as otherwise it's pretty much a crap shoot.

Ran through the Knowledge Base articles on the old motorcycle charging/ignition system manufacturer's web site yesterday morning, but didn't find anything I'd done wrong. They did suggest a couple of tests I could run to check for proper function, and it did pass those. One was to hook up a timing light and see if it flashed, which it did. But the flash was very weak, and only after the kick start lever had been given a very vigorous kick. That was with the sparkplugs tied tightly to the heads so I could observe the spark gaps, and I didn't see any spark at all. I can't help but wonder if it's so anemic in open air, how can it ever jump a gap filled with pressurized air and fuel molecules? I also saw very low DC and AC values coming out of the charging system during kicking, but at least have a better feeling about the health of the regulator/rectifier. I summarized my observations in a note to the US supplier, but haven't heard anything back yet. Hopefully the throttle cables will show up today or tomorrow and I can see if the bike'll run as is, but at this point I certainly have my doubts.

Not much luck at the mechanic's yesterday, as apparently the part I made still needs to be welded to another bit, and that part has to be modified to fit. Supposedly he has hired a machinist to come in on Friday for odd jobs, but I can't imagine how anyone can do quality work on his filthy and dilapidated equipment. When asked if any other parts are needed, I got a painfully long explanation of how the four power steering pumps he ordered off eBay had disappeared off his front door step after the postman left them there. Instead of admitting he screwed up by having them delivered to his home instead of the shop, he tried to blame the seller for not insuring the parcel or the postman for leaving them in plain site on the porch.:confused2: He never did give me a straight answer about when he thought the van would finally be running. I told him I'd be there with a trailer to pick it up in mid April, running or not. And that I'd come after him for whatever it cost for someone else to finish his work. He didn't have much to say about that, either.:censored:

Still working my way through DVR recordings from this year's Olympics. It's just amazing what people can accomplish with hard work and determination. Luck has played a considerable role as well as weather, all part of the drama of competition. Just wish NBC had given more even coverage of the events, as they seemed to feature only those where the US had a chance of medaling. That left out the majority of men's events, and as a result it seems at times like I'm just watching a women's version of the Olympics.:confused2: And since the coverage I chose to record was the live version during prime time, I've missed the events from later in the day where the gold medals were determined.:muttering: That's were the athletes try the hardest, and the most amazing accomplishments happen. Oh well, I guess there's always '22.:confused2:

TGIF gang! :drink:

Good morning! A warm cloudy 68˚ morning. Several things planed with Mom today. Kyle thanks for the link, Monday is the last day of the auction and we will bid if not too high for either a scout or bobcat (not tractor related). They are about $600 on Amazon. The opening bid is $25 and my Mom has authorized me to bid $50  but I'll secretly add more.:D Mother's day coming up. My brother lives 15 miles from the auction so free delivery.

Sadamo the 5 day P diet is over, well actually one more day (6) called a transition day where you use your foods, but everything is exactly as they said it would be. My BMI came down almost 2 points, lost 9 pounds and 2" in waist. But that is not the main reason I went on it. I'm off my statins - I have an appointment with the cardiologist next week to make sure he is in agreement and of course blood test. (So not officially off till next week or in 6 weeks after blood test. But one heck of an incentive once you stop taking the pill. Now I'm off all meds.) To be at the optimal BMI for heart disease and no statins comfortably I still need to duplicate it one more time in 3-4 weeks while maintaining this current weight. BMI should be between 22 and 23. They also say that people who do the 5 day FMD diet do eat smaller portions and healthier, there is always room for healthier even with a plant based diet. I noticed on the transition day instruction they talk about eating meat so this is not for Plant based people only. But I do think it was so easy for me because I'm plant based. Not a diet to go on if you physically can't, are not committed and don't have strong will power. This is a serious diet not a funsie diet.
For me overall 5 stars!

my cell phone has my old PA number still. So I get a robocall almost every day, and what is an instant tipoff is the area code and exchange are the same as my phone number.
So they make it seem like someone local is calling you, except, for me, it's an instant indicator for BS because no one from my old area calls on that phone number.
Family and friends were in a different exchange, so now I just answer the phone and disconnect promptly. Hopefully slows someone down a few seconds...what an obnoxious business
to be in. They don't care about Do Not Call lists, so I'm going to check out another layer of defense as noted before.
Some times I pick up to be sure, and never ever has it been anything but credit card nonsense. I have an unused BOA cc I need to cancel, which I think is causing the problem.

Good idea anyway, up my credit score a few points. Get rid of unused credit accounts. This is the last one. My FICO score got dinged for it, they now show the reasons why you don't score a perfect 900. Since they tell you what the issues are, ratios, open accounts, etc, whatever you can change for the better, just makes sense to do it. It was the reminder I needed, being told my procrastination was costing me. Not really, my score is pretty high. But it can get to be kind of a game, how high can you get your FICO to go? That at least is
what Wells Fargo is using and providing free online to customers. They have a button saying basically want to check your score? Fine print confirms there's no hit counter on it, Wells Fargo is buffering. And it's what the Subaru dealer used on my car loan.

It's time to plant the potatoes.
Putting each piece in just the right way is a labor of love vs efficiency.
Sunny warm day, this should be fun.

I had to laugh about the glasses, sounds like me, if I’m doing upholstery or working on a tractor, the bifocals are laying on the bench.

My FICO list thirty points because I was recently widowed, it has since gain 10 back.
