No, that is not true. Advantech is 4' x 8' just like OSB or plywood. That being said, I think 16" on center makes a world better floor.

Especially if you can drop down to a 2x8 from a x10. (or a x10 from a x12) the difference get's even smaller.

Someone told me that the Advantech was not quite a true 4x8 sheet and if I had my joist laid out on 2' centers it would cause me problems, Is that true?

Aren't they intentionally a bit undersized? I know the OSB we used on our addition was, and was not supposed to be set tight together (actually printed on the sheets).

Yeah it's not a true 4x8 sheet. It should be on the sheet what gap needs to be maintained. If you keep the gap, it will line up on 16 inch center layouts.

Thanks for the opinions, sounds like plywood and OSB is a thing of the past as good as everyone likes the Advantech, down here where I am plywood and OSB is around $ 33.00 a sheet, I'll price the Advantech and if it's only a few dollars more per sheet I'll try to go with it. Charlie.

How does a 4x8 sheet of Advantech currently compare in cost to 3/4" T&G CDX plywood?

More importantly what is the quality of the plywood?

Advantech is SOLID no VOIDS. I've bought a bunch of plywood that have had large voids in the inner layers, thus the skin may separate.

That Advantech is amazing stuff. Our new home was still open to the elements when superstorm Sandy came through and gave us a ton of rain, and the Advantech floors never showed any issues. I know if we had plywood we would have been in trouble. Back in the 80s-90s when I worked for my dad building homes, we were still using 3/4" plywood on floors, and we'd almost always have to go back and replace a section or two due to moisture issues during construction. If we happened to get a snowfall on a plywood floor that melted before we could shovel it off, you'd see some serious problems.
