Wife and I called our best friends, a couple, and her dad is not expected to last much longer. They keep saying, "I can't believe we are going through the same thing". Mom has radiating abdominal pain and is going to the ER. Will be going in as soon as I can get away from here. Ed

Thanks, sitting here with him now. That picture from last spring, things just starting to green up here right now.

Dad says he docked in scotland 20 dec 1943, then took a train to BIrmingham that day, so stayed his 1st night in UK there, before camping for several months south of cardiff, before taking a boat to omaha beach in june. Sightseeing at it's finest, except he had to splash thru the water getting of his cruise ship.

I would make a bet that he did see some sights...Many of which you don't even right home about.

OK we stopped about the same time, we can compare. Did you just stop on your own. Does your Dr. know about it. My 2 week blood test after stopping statins was:
Cholesterol 161
Triglycerides 111
HDL 51
LDL calculated 87
Cholesterol risk ratio 3.2

Another test in 3 months after my body adjust to no pills. I found an inexpensive place to do blood work so I'm going to check every month to make sure I stay out of the danger zone and how much I fluctuate. Just $29 Heart Health & Cholesterol Lab Testing they have these all over the U.S. Walgreens and CVS does not do the testing anymore.

I know everyone is different and some of ya'll can eat sausage and bacon and your levels would be better but I got bad genes and have to make adjustments to diet to stay off pills. I hope it is still possible.

Actually stopped on my own. Nope doctor doesn’t know. As long as numbers look good then he won’t care. I don’t know my numbers. If he does care then we will discuss a medicine change. I stopped actually because of family history. My grandfather, who I’m just a bigger version of, was crippled by statins. Well that’s the only thing they can figure out. Lost all leg strength and started falling as his legs couldn’t hold him. Has tested negative for every muscle disease known and stumped about a dozen doctors including about 6 neurologist. Stopped statins and has regained some strength. His heart doctor actually decided to try it as a last ditch effort.
I was on the statin for my triglycerides. Total, and ldl were in normal range and hdl was like 1-2 points low. Doctor said he wasn’t getting excited about a point or two.
I do need to set up an appointment with my doctor. Haven’t been in about 18 months except for the allergy shots. I stopped because of constant muscle pain. Not just in my legs all over. I was also having 4-5 days a week I didn’t feel like doing anything. No energy and tired very easily. Since I’ve been off the statin I’ve had about 1 day a week like that and I can attribute that to not sleeping well mostly for the kids. It’s the next day.

Good evening all. 60F for the start, thick overcast, light wind. Wind started up earlier than yesterday, overcast thinned some during afternoon and high temp was 75F. Started morning with bike ride trying to beat wind, but wind followed suit. After lunch and nap managed to get the chain sawing done and started on woodpile restack.

Good morning all. Sad to wake up and hear that Arnaud Beltrame did not survive. What a brave man he was to willingly walk in and give up his own safety in exchange for a hostage.

A little damp here this morning after a night of steady rainfall. I was fortunate that it held off yesterday until I was moving the last wheelbarrow of firewood under cover by the house. Within a few minutes the temporary water butt collecting rain from the shed roof was overflowing, so I started dipping in a bucket to transfer water into another container. Dog stayed in the dry with the firewood, watching me and no doubt thinking why is he doing that when water is so cheap. I just can't help myself though, it seemed wrong to let the surplus run to waste. Does anyone else who harvests rainwater get that tinge of regret when there is more water than can be stored away for a not-rainy day ?

BEF - What a great dad you have. Does he suspect yet that he's probably getting a TBN cap for Christmas and the mug for next birthday ?
