We do watch Fox 4 News in the morning, but seldom watch any other news casts. I still watch the old Gunsmoke reruns; doubt that there's any episode I've seen less than 3 or 4 times at least. And I still watch the old John Wayne movies that I recorded on the TV.
Of course in a previous life, I appeared on the TV news a couple of times. Since I was the first active recruiter for the police department, a young female reporter (whose name I've forgotten) took me by surprise when she came out to where I was, in a shopping center, to interview me about our recruiting program, and ran that interview on the evening news for 2 days.
But some years later, when I was a lieutenant, Commander of the Helicopter Section, a well known TV newsman showed up at my office, with his camera man, and said he was there for me to have a helicopter take them up to get some aerial photos. I told him I couldn't do that, so he said he'd talked to my boss, an assistant chief, and the chief said I'd take them up. So I called that assistant chief, and he assured me that newsman had NOT contacted him. So the newsman left without saying another word.
A few years later, I was a captain, Commander of the Communications Division (know by some as the dispatcher's office:laughing

. Shortly after I took over that job, we had a power outage in downtown Dallas one afternoon, and quickly learned that the emergency generator was not properly wired for our telephones. Of course, we quickly found a work around and missed no calls. But that same newsman showed up with his camera man. He kept asking questions, everything he could think of, and I kept answering all of them, until his camera man told him he was out of tape. So they left. But the next morning, the chief's administrative assistant called me and said the same newsman wanted to interview me in the news media room. So I went to the news media room and sat down with him, and once again answered questions for about an hour, with the camera man recording all of it.
And that evening, on the 6 o'clock news, the only thing shown on the TV was a partial second shot of me when I said, "I don't know" once. If I'd known that was all he was looking for, we could have saved several hours.
