To me, there is no one perfect tractor. Every manufactures has it's own pros and cons along with dealerships. You just have to choose what features are most important to YOU along with dealership convenience. And of course, being affordable.

Any thoughts behind not pursuing the Deere or the NH?
You get more tractor for the money with a Yanmar. I like the twin touch pedal on the Deere but for 5k more I'd live with the iHMT. Yanmar makes a high quality machine IMHO. I'd say they are on par with Kubota and JD in quality, and fit and finish. The engine in the 4 series Deere's are made by Yanmar. I'd say you are in the 40k range for a JD and in the 32 - 33k range for Yanmar as a guess. Kubota will be in the same price range as JD. If you get a ridiculous price on a Yanmar PM me. I can get you the local dealerships phone number. The local dealership has really good prices on them.

I am in the same predicament right now but I don't want a cabbed machine. I bought a Yanmar YT347 demo unit, it ended being a rental unit so I sent it back. Currently looking at a used ( 30 hour ) JD4044R for more money than the a new Yanmar the dealer is willing to sell to me to save face. Hard to pass up a new machine for what a used machine is going for. In my area the JD will holds its value the best though.

The price I was given for a NH was about the same as I could get a Deere for. I'd buy the Deere before the NH. I was thinking about looking at an LS but the closest dealer is 60 miles away.

I do like the Kubota I have and am happy with the dealership. That being said the hitch assist on the Deere is pretty attractive, any experience or insights regarding the hitch assist?

This doesn’t answer your question, but this is why I can’t. Only one JD dealer had an R series for me to look at. Never once was I offered to test drive it and no one seemed to know much about them. In fairness I didn’t ask, but it was on their showroom floor and would have been a pain to get out. Seeing no one could answer many of my questions, I just gave up at that point. And if I didn’t get the one I was looking at which wasn’t exactly what I wanted, one dealer told me it could be 6 months to order one. No idea if that was true or not.

Point here being, make sure your dealer knows at least some about what you’re buying and takes your purchase seriously and offers advice. I think I would have been really happy with the JD. However after reading so many posts on here about the dealer being a big portion of your decision, among other likes, I went with the Kubota.

I am in the same boat, looked at all these tractors including the LS. For me I am down to price, weight of machine, FEL lift capacity, warranty and service from dealer. JD is nice but cost more OTD $43 no cab on a 4044R. LS is a nice tractor wins in all categories. Really like the Yanmar also and there cab is very nice. Going to have to think about that. Also best weight capacity. Kabota is nice. And NH is same as LS except they have different FEL's.

It does seem over whelming looking at all the different options. Here's my experience with the 4044M (base mode) but the same hp and drivetrain as the 4044R, it needs more power for a machine that size. My old 40hp gas gear drive tractor seemed like it had tons of power but this wants to bog down going up my driveway in M-range at WOT. Sure its a decent hill but having to let up on the e-hydro to regain rmp is a stinker, when taking out the trash.

My dad's Kubota L5300 wouldn't even consider slowing down on the same hill. My point is look at the 4052 because it's surprising how much power it takes to move the machine unloaded and I prefer to work and use M-range without have to shift to Low or let of on simple tasks.

I much preferred the two pedal setup Deere offers and that in combination with the creature comforts of the Deere swayed me over the Kubota. BUT I'm certainly regretting the power difference, 44hp is simply the absolute minimum a machine this size should have and mine doesn't have AC chewing even more power.
Good Luck they all make nice stuff!

Great intel - my local Deere dealership is situated next to some good hills, once they have some 4 series tractors in stock I will be sure to put each one through its paces. I agree on the Deere pedal setup, the Kubota is simply not as comfortable. Thank you again, keep in the info coming!

I love my Boomer 24. It has 180 hrs on it and runs like a top.

My deciding factor was the dealer near me.

However I eliminated several models by the test drive. Something in the ergonomics just did not work for me. So pass on that tractor. I am 6? so how things fit and work for my body is very different than for the average. So I am attuned to trying things on.

Drive them all and let that help guide you.

For some strange reason as I have been loosing every thing else hearing included it is hard to beat the quietness of a Kubota.

I致e been to 3 of the local Deere dealers stores and have yet to see a 4 series in person. The salesman pointed out that it痴 kind of a filler- you can mount a mower under it and it痴 not too far off the price of a 5e series.

I really liked the 5055e I drove but ended up with an older L series... I値l trade it in 3-4 years after the messy work is done on something shiny and it will be a toss up between orange and green.

I'm still struggling with 4, the JD, Kubota, LS and Yanmar. Each and every one has something the others dont. I can get a Yanmar 50hp for the same price as the others which range between 42-45 HP. I like the JD dealer but they want the most money. What's a man to do?
