Argh! Has anyone had to replace a hydraulic line to the BH on a GC1710? I spru g a leak over the weekend and upon inspection, the blue and yellow flexible line has serious abrasions, and the blue one is leaking. A quick visual and it looks like maybe the floor needs to come out to get to them? Anyone have to do this yet?

Make sure they are routed correctly, dont count on the stealerships to do that for you. On my GC2410 I only had to replace one a few months back. It was my fault because I didnt route it correctly when I took my BH off and put the 60inch Woodmaxx snowblower on. It got chaffed to the point where it was thin enough to bleed through the skin. Not sure if GC1710 is similar in how they route the lines but I replaced the blue one without removing the floor board, was challenging to get behind the tire but just so. Only took me 15 minutes once I figured it out.

As cdaigle said, don't count on anyone else making sure you have the proper clearances on those lines.

Things are very tight on a subcompact. If the hose is not run carefully, you will get wear.

Cable ties, and warps are sometimes necessary.

The factory hoses are low grade, they don't take much abuse.

You can sometimes use the old hose to pull a new one in place.

Ditto on the crap hose quality. I致e done about half of mine on the 1736 though in spite of extensive use none died on the BH. Strange. All of mine died from internal failure where it actually failed at the ferrel but squeezed off up the hose to pop up a few inches ahead of it. Dealer told me that happens a lot and is how I figured out where the leak was actually happening.
One thing I tried on a buddies advice was swapping them with new ones made up using higher pressure hoses. He told me local local JD dealer quit using the thinner lines due to numerous failures(they make up their own). They are noticeably thicker and none have leaked again . That may help your BH situation IF they fit in the tight quarters and route ok. Be careful using zip ties on hoses as the good ones are hard enough to saw through things where痴 there is a lot of movement/ vibrantion. Wrap a piece of something like hard plastic, aluminum can or a piece of that wire loom you get at speed shops , auto zone ect where the ties might chafe.

Ditto what Ray said -- I've replaced three now on my 2310. Visited a local hydraulics shop to have them made up; much better quality. I replaced one that went back to the BH that I was able to fish through without having to pull the floor up. In really tight areas, I slit some 1/8" thick clear plastic hose, pried it open, and slipped that over the hydraulic line - worked well.

I have a 2005 with all the factory hydraulic hoses.

I guess I am the only one who takes care of my stuff. :D

Seriously, If you replace a line due to abrasion, you can have the hose shop cover it partially, or completely, in a nylon hose sleeve. It adds about a buck a foot to the cost. If the sleeve only needs to cover part of the hose, you can hold it in place with cable ties.

The sleeves fit neatly over the hose, if you put them on before the fittings are crimped. You can buy sleeve and add it to existing hoses, but the sleeve has to be way oversized.

They make a hydraulic hose spiral wrap that you can cut to length and put on the hose without taking the hose off . The hyd shop should have it ..

My 2010 GC2610 sprung a leak in one of the steering hoses that I blame on the mechanic who did a warranty repair to the steering. When replacing this hose, I covered the area where it was likely to wear again with a section of heater hose split lengthwise and held on with zip ties. No problems in the last five years at 660 hours.

I believe it's the routing. I have never had the BH off, so I looked online to see how to take it off and the couple of videos I watched all had the hoses routed over the PTO plate. Mine were run under the PTO plate, and had a rubber cord holding them up off the ground and take up the slack. They rubbed on the bottom of that PTO plate. I can blame the assembler or the factory all I want, but still going to cost me $$ and time, but, live and learn. We should put this in a checklist with the other filter part numbers and Zerk fitting locations. Something to keep an eye on.

Bought my GC2310 used this year. Tractor had newer replacement hydraulic feed and return lines, but the MF 2375 backhoe stock blue hose was weeping with a puddle under it. When I checked it clearly was cracked from weathering over thirteen years. Figured out how to unbolt the covers and took both blue and yellow to a local shop where the owner crimped up replacements while I waited. No more drips :D

1) Thanks to lurking and reading experienced member posts here ... I had them made 18" longer than stock, to help when hooking / unhooking up

2) If you forget which side of the valve block on the loader is blue, and which side is yellow, the arm will only swing over one direction, and nothing else - legs, bucket, curl - works. Took me a while to figure that out. Duh
