Bicyclists - Can you recommend a low cost wireless odometer?

While looking for something to measure distance was my main focus I stumbled on:
Wahoo Blue SC Speed and Cadence Sensor for iPhone, Android and Bike Computers


Though this is far more than I initially was looking for it seems really interesting.

I want something that hooks to the rear wheel so it works when I use my simple trainer stand, that can send data via BT to my phone, measures distance and maybe time. Heart rate monitoring would be a benefit. But I had tried a wrist based heart rate monitor before which didn't work.

So any recommendations?

I've bought from all of those retailers and they've all been good.

I prefer a discrete computer instead of a phone. Putting the phone on the bars is cumbersome and it's not weather hardened like a bike computer.

Wrist or earlobe based HR does not work well. You need a chest strap.

GPS based units can record where you went, which can be useful in conjunction with mapping software (some is free) or a site like Strava. You can try that out via a phone app first to see if you like it.

Not sure your goals or required time on the bike but phones and BT require more battery power than the ANT+ wireless used for the outdoor activities. Any of the bike shops will have a BT speed and cadence sensor. But with any time in the sport you will be switching to a Garmin type GPS and buying the ANT+ sensors- the battery life is just so much better because it was purpose built and designed.
