There are so many many common things that are poison.
Oleanders were know since ancient times to be poison. Very common, even on the free ways in CA.

Hydrogen peroxide, what you have is about 5%, harmless. Manny years ago I had a use for 30%. It came with a 30 page book on what not to do.

Had a battery blow up in my face 1 time. Just opened the hood to check oil & boom. Flush with lots of water & doc put some kind of cream on the burn.

I was coming home from work one day and saw an ambulance down the street. As I got closer I realized it was in front of my house. Running up the porch the old lady "neighborhood mom" was coming out and said "it's ok". My toddler son had eaten a house plant leaf. His tongue and throat swelled up and almost stopped his breathing.

Who knew philodendron was poisonous?

Oleander is also very common along the west coast of FL and most locals are quite aware that it is poisonous...

Often at parties I would smoke up a bunch of Spanish Mackerel using buttonwood (mangrove)...whenever someone would make a complement about the flavor of the smoked fish...I would always say..."yeah...that oleander does a good job"...!

The Vietnamese VC were known to make ammonium nitrate from PP for a low grade explosive. They evaporated the water out and had UREA (N2-H4-O3) crystals. Urea is one of the oldest fertilizers known. Most (except some of the newer stuff) explosives; the major ingredient is a compound containing nitrogen. Just think it is the major component of the air we breathe. Trivia 101.

Ok, i assumed it was knowledge you were born with.

Right, it was written on my diaper, to keep from maids making dumb azz mistakes when they washed my cloth diapers. What's your tale?

This is crazy, the wife pulled this stunt a couple months ago. inherited cat from daughter, peeing on the basement floor, wife poured beach, and then the next day used ammonia and paper towels.

Chlorine gas, burned her hands a little, called me down stairs she had a plastic garbage bag with paper towels in it that was smoking. Said she never heard of it 53 year old woman. I knew it I think from middle school science class 40 years ago.
I hope that she's OK.
Another thing that I see is people using refrigerator racks for cooking on their outdoor fire pits; nothing like a little aluminum oxide poisoning to bring the family together.

These reminders never hurt. An Aunt in her 60s had been around these products her entire adult life and made this mistake. It was fatal.

Do not mix ammonia & bleach it gives off a toxic gas that has killed people.

Guess I'm the only one here who didn't know this. Of course, why would anybody mix the two? I use bleach all the time for killing mold and algae on houses, but don't know hat amonia is good for, so I never use it on anything. Sadly, I'm sure that in a week from now, I'll forget all about this, and be surprised the next time it comes up!!!
