Hypro PTO mounted pump torque arm

I need to put together another torque arm for my pump. The PTO shaft is turning clockwise as you look at the back of the tractor. What is the spring doing on the one side? The pump would have to kick back for some reason for that to come into play. I'll build it this way, but what am I missing?

I think the spring is there to keep the torque side chain tight when the PTO is off. Otherwise it'll snap tight when you turn on the PTO and potentially break.

Ok, not questioning the picture but have never seen one hooked up that way. Even their own description to me contradicts the picture to some degree. Below is from right at this picture. The way the picture to me looks there would be a good bit of rotation before the chain would tighten stopping the rotation. I have only seen the chain hook in line with the bar as what it is for it to prevent rotation. It is NOT to keep the pump on the pto shaft for there is pto retainer on it for that.

i just have a length of chain looped and bolted in the holes on each side and slide it over the belly bar .
