I am not a scientist or a farmer, but I was raised on a dairy far. I don't like the crap that is sold in stores for the most part. Home grown foods taste better - those grown without the pesticides, herbicides.

Since retirement, we grow a lot of our own and try to buy organic. Just read the label - who would want to eat the chemicals out of choice? - I like that the food companies have noticed that consumers want gmo free foods and are labeling it. It makes shopping easier.
Just make sure you understand, that a label that says organic does not mean that it was not sprayed with chemicals or that it is higher quality than the non organic food.

I've seen the difference in organic and non-organic food and in many cases what is acceptable and brings the farmer a premium as organic food would be rejected if it was non organic food because of blemishes and rot and insect bites. It is also worth noting that there are numerous organic certified pesticides and other chemicals out there, they just cost more.

The original post reminds me of the story about coffee last month. This is my summary of it, as best I can remember... Years ago, some cancer institute added coffee to their list of carcinogens. So an activist group took on the coffee brewers in California fighting to have cancer warnings added to every cup of coffee sold. 6 or 8 years later (last month) some court in CA sided with this activist group and now its the law in CA all cups must have a carcinogen warning added. Funny thing is that the cancer institute had just removed coffee from their list of carcinogens after more research found no correlation.

This makes a great point Ford...it's really all about time and the technology to say what may or may not be harmful...

...The crux of the subject is really about time and the agenda behind the research studies to realize what if any ill or beneficial effects there are...!

Like with so many other subjects...it simple to buy the opinions of even the most educated of "experts" and "PhD's etc's...

I tend to read the studies, some of them are easy to see through, but I take note and store the info in the back of my mind to review as I come across other info. I don't buy into most studies on the surface, because it usually takes a lot of time and many studies to truly spot a trend. There's nothing wrong with all the reports, articles, etc when it comes to research, but I like to take them all into consideration and not buy into any single one of them alone.

there is not a single Acre of GMO wheat planted in the US . so wheat is not sprayed with Glyphospate. You can not believe everything put out on labels or propaganda . The manufactures have figured out if they print it on a label they can charge more for it because 99% of the population is ignorant.

Glyphosate is used as a desiccant to quickly dry the wheat. It is also used to kill potato plants just before harvest so that they don't have to wait for it to happen naturally. Glyphosate is used in many areas.

It is sprayed on less than a 3rd of wheat at a stage when the plant is already dying . I can post links too from unbiased sources . Do what you want but quit spewing misinformation. I have personally harvested 1000's of acres or wheat and oats and never once have have any of these fields seen a drop of GLY at any stage of production.

My wife bought some organic carrots for the grandkid. I went to wash it to rinse off the chemical taste that is always there from pesticides not knowing they were organic. She said you don't have to. Grandkid was getting impatient (3). He grabbed one and started munching. So I tried one without washing it - no pesticide taste. I still think it is good to rinse vegetables - but I think I'll accept a few blemishes, and a shorter shelf life if it means no pesticides!

Fresh vegetables, fruit from organic sources is well worth it - no pesticides, waxes, etc.. I make my own cider from our unsprayed apples. I cut the worm holes out - and pulp and press. The cider is delicious. And there is no buzz taste of a preservative that would be there if I bought it in a grocery store + and no pesticide residue.

I like organic- it is akin to the food of my youth - when food was only available in season.

another misconception is these publications group all chemicals as pesticides which is a trigger for fear because of propaganda . Herbicide and pesticide are 2 different things and most of these people that are writing and pushing the agenda think they are farmers because they have 10 rows of garden behind the house in a subdivision . I am all for growing what you want and doing your own thing but in a world of fake news and people trying to exploit hot buttons its a little tiresome when they don't know what the heck they are talking about

You posted before that glyphosate was never used in wheat crops - ie no gmo wheat. Now you say 1/3 of wheat is sprayed. - At one time, before glyphosate + Monsanto came along - no one used it. Now it is common.

"But spraying a mature grain or bean crop so close to harvest with a glyphosate-based herbicide results in much higher residues than traditional, spring or early summer applications. "
Glyphosate Use as Desiccant Doubles Human Contamination - Cornucopia Institute

---Glyphosate and metabolite residues concentrate in the liver and kidney, and both animal studies and human investigations have highlighted liver and/or kidney problems.

- Re living longer, we also have this - Sperm counts and health, and male fertility, have declined over the last two to three generations. Several cancers are becoming more common, and the frequency and severity of reproductive problems and birth defects are rising.

I haven't heard that going glyphosate free makes you ill! :D:D

There are no GMO wheat crops being used in the US thats a fact . If Gly was sprayed on wheat before seed head development it would kill it, I assumed you knew that . being your an expert at wheat production , If a 1/3 of farmers use it as a quick kill after the plant if fully mature and not growing It has no bearing on the wheat.
