They're distantly related to Perogies.

History shows that perogies were brought to the plains of Saskatchewan/Manitoba by Ukrainian immigrants in the 1880's... Indeed, the North West Mounted Police (pre-RCMP) were almost disbanded after the Riel Rebellion but were kept due to perogi rustling plaguing the region!

The Zippo lighter has initially invented for branding perogies (due to the winds of the plains environment). That's the original reason for the little holes on the chimney of the lighter... for the tiny branding-irons to stick in and be heated. ath:

The Haggis I have had was most excellent but I let someone else bag it for me... :laughing::laughing::laughing:

First Haggis was in a little hotel restaurant in Campbeltown, Scotland as an appetizer. :licking::licking::licking:

Second Haggis was in the same town, but a different restaurant, in a different hotel. This time the Haggis was spread on nachos. The BEST nachos I have ever had bar none! :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup: We had a HUGE plate of these nachos, enough for 6-8 people, and three of us ate them all. WAY too much food but it was soo good. Then we had dinner! :laughing::laughing::laughing:

The first restaurant is the where we had Springbank single malt whiskey for the first time. :licking::licking::licking::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup: Spent a small fortune on that it and other single malts from the distilleries in town. Going back to Europe this summer, unfortunately not to Campbeltown, but we know where we can get some more Springbank.
