Rotary Cutter gear oil

I put synthetic 75w-140 in all gear boxes, including changing out my jeep and truck differentials.

Do you all run synthetic or regular conventional gear oil in your rotary cutter gear box? Thanks
I put Syn thickest I can get...I think it's 75W-140 in my new ones before I use them.....most are shipped dry.

This thread is clearly only an expression of opinions and not really technically-based at all.... so here's mine: I put what the mfr'r says to put in it. I don't imagine I know more about it than the person who designs, builds, and services untold numbers of them does.
My Rhino TW72 shredder is specific about the Exxon/Mobil grease required and that's all I'll ever use in it.

Thanks for this thread. It never occurred to me to use Syn gear oil in the gear boxes, even though I always use Syn engine oil.
But please allow me to input this. I worked in an International Truck parts dealership for 35 years, and before the introduction of synthetic gear oil, we were constantly selling gears and bearings for transmissions and drives/rear ends.
And of course I realize the designs of these devices improved with time, but when fleets began using full synthetic gear oil , it was clear that transmissions and rear end bearings and gears were not failing as often due to the use of synthetic oil.
Would Lucas 10122 75/140 Synthetic Gear Oil - 1 Gallon be good for rotary gear boxes? I already use the Lucas 75W140 Dino oil in my Wheel Horse garden tractors trans/diff, so I could switch over to Syn on the Wheel Horses as well.

My 2011 Silverado owner's manual says it eloquently on synthetic vs dino oils. Engine changes are logged at 7500 miles or 1 year. Oil has to be specially rated for late model GM engines....little green sticker on the front of Mobil 1 and other oils of the type.

Auto tranny fluid changes are not mentioned out through 100k miles, nor are differential oil changes, for the 1500 model trucks. That hasn't always been the case. They don't tell you what base stocks are used in OEM listed lubes, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out.........And here's the Coup'd Grace.....100,000 mile, 5 year power train warranty......daaaaaa never had that with dino oils!

I use syn. in my gearboxes as I "fill and forget". Knowing that the gearbox gets hot and syn resists temp extremes better, it's a fill once and forget it sort of thing with syns.
