Oil & Fuel Diesel in a Container Used for Gasoline?

I have a 30-gallon tank in my garage that has an integrated hand pump. A really nice one that rolls, has a gauge, etc.

When I bought it, specs stated that it could be used for gas, diesel, kerosene, etc. I've only used it for gas, though, but want to begin using it for diesel for a new tractor. Obviously I'll empty the gas and get as much of the fuel out of there, but inevitably there will be a tiny bit left that I can't easily drain. Will any kittens needlessly die if I then use it for diesel and fuel my M5-111 with it?

Depending on what you definition of a tiny bit is you’ll be fine. A half pint of gas in 30 gallons of diesel won’t hurt anything.

Just get as much out as humanly possible and maybe let the rest evaporate for a couple of days.

Accidentally mixing gasoline and diesel fuel - What happens then?

As noted in the article, gasoline is a solvent and diesel is an oil. I'd also add some lubricity additive to the first batch or two.

I use kero and gas containers for diesel all the time (and clearly mark them DIESEL). Benz actually said it was okay to mix 10% gasoline into diesel in the winter to avoid winter start problems. Then they had to back down because it was found that such a mix causes the vapor space in a diesel tank to be explosive. A little bit left in the tank won't matter, long as it's well short of 10%.

I would drain what I could & fill with diesel.
As an old trucker, we used to mix gas with our fuel if caught with summer fuel in really cold places.
You won't have enough to even notice or do ANY damage.

I put some gas in my diesel truck by mistake one time when I got distracted by this honey in front of me wearing some really tight shorts and cowboy boots, she looked kinda like Ellie May Clampett. Luckily I caught myself after just a gallon or so and the truck was fine but I had a kinda funny feeling all day after that.

When I worked in France, many of my colleagues from America would visit our plant. Most of the rental cars in France are diesels. Invariably they would forget they were driving a diesel and would add gasoline. Nobody ever had a problem. Your little bit of gas will be insignificant.
