jd 5210
hi folks,
have a 5210 that starts fine when cold, but after running an hour or more, it won't restart till it cools down couple hours later?
will crank over when hot, but not start. i get the feeling it isn't getting enough fuel. didn't have this problem till i had it "tuned up" with new filters etc from the dealer few months ago.
runs fine after starting. has new battery and was doing this before replacing the battery.
thoughts?

I'd pay the dealer a visit and lay it in their lap. just sayin...

Someone else may have a better answer... ;)

How hrs are showing on speed/hr meter? Do you hear fuel control solenoid clicking when engine is at operating temp. when ign switch is turned to on position?

IIRCC these have a cold system that advances the injection pump. Maybe the injection pump is "stuck" in the cold start position??

Do not have the answer, but here is what I would try: 1) Make sure the fuel filter ring is tight. 2) Make sure the water separator on the bottom of the fuel filter is tight. 3) Next time this happens, just to test take the fuel cap off, as the tank maybe not be venting correctly. 4) As mention before make sure you are getting power to the fuel solenoid. See if you can hear it clicking. Must admit I can never hear my clicking on my 5210.

yes will check this out, but working this weekend so won't be till next weekend that i can run it. seems like the 5210 had issues with the cold starting system. fires up fine when cold, not so much when hot.

You can disconnect the CSD {cold start devise} on the inj. pump w/ no ill effects.. it just unplugs..
AND there IS a very big problem w/ the temp sensor that its connected to.. they short out & the tractor keep blowing the start fuse..
VERY WELL documented..

Look into the temp sensor thing and maybe unplug to try. There could be a problem with it and it's purpose is to alter timing in cold weather. I suppose it could malfunction.

Its only active ON START UP or "supposed to be"..
The sensor tell it when to come on {cold} but w/ the documented problems WITH THE SENSOR, it would be worth a shot..
& only takes a second to unplug.
