Comparison Mahindra vs Kioti

   / Mahindra vs Kioti #31
Today was a repeat. Parked in front, walked in and picked up a brochure. Then walked out and spent some time sitting on a 2538 and 2638. No one offered any assistance.
I am only 5' 10 and found the seating and petal arrangement best suited for maybe someone 5'5 or shorter. Even with walking shoes on it very uncomfortable to lift my feet up and use the foot controls. Seat was pushed all the way back. Felt like I was sitting in a sub compact car with the seat pulled forward. The 2538 was a little better but not by much.
At this point in time going to concentrate on a Kioti but will take a look at a Kubota as well

I am very happy with my Kioti. Only problem I have had is a leaking O-ring in the remote hydraulic stack. Changed the O-ring and all is well. Overall the tractor seems well engineered and manufactured, only complaint is the seat need to be moved up and back about 2 inches but I have been griping about that and not fixing it for the last six months so it can't be too bad. Not trying to badmouth Mahindra, but their DPF avoidance strategy seems a little on the flakey side. Running that much EGR is not good for an engine and the DOC catalyst system requires higher temperatures than DPF to work. Almost all other diesel manufacturers use the DPF system for a reason.

The seat height is a complaint from many. I'm 5'-11" and had the same problem. Check out this thread:

Too many people spend their life complaining about seat height and other changeable things. Take the initiative.... buy the tractor you want. Then change it to fit you in all ways possible. No tractor is perfect. Change the things you can to make your life better... You only get one shot and each day is precious... :)

Or buy what fits you best, and make fewer changes.
I have nothing against Mahindra, LS, Branson, TYM, Case, Kubota, or even Deere - really nothing against almost any brand. I can't stand lousy dealers, no matter what they sell. I found a great, old-time, family-owned and operator, real tractor dealer, with a well-stocked parts department and a fully trained service department. They acted like they wanted my business, and still treat me like a valued customer. If any of the other dealers had come close - regardless of price - I would have had a harder decision. I wasn't sold on Kioti - I was sold on the dealership. Reading up on Kioti here on TBN gave me confidence that the quality of the Kioti brand was acceptable to me, but many brands meet that standard.

Of those two brands I would buy the Kioti.

I think even the manufacturer is having a hard time coming up with a solution for the Mahindra 2638 seat. There is really no room to move the seat back due to the fuel tank. Besides, there are plenty of options out there so I don't think it is unreasonable for people who purchase new to be less than thrilled about making modifications. Time, expense, research. Why bother?

Unfortunately for some of us, there is no choice.

I'm over 6'-8" 300lbs. Tractors, cars, motorcycles, and most furniture will not fit without modification (you should see me shopping for clothes). Everything is made for some mythical "average sized person" the manufacturers come up with.

If you want comfort and are not the "average" size person a manufacturer builds for, quit your whining and modify it to fit you or do without.
