Buying a Kubota L2501 and am considering the LP drag harrow and not sure if it's the best option.

Main use is spreading manure around 3 acres of horse pasture and general pasture maintenance and preparing sections of my yard for over seeding this fall.

Looking at the LP because it's easy to just buy everything all at once from Kubota but don't want to overpay if there are better options. Thanks.

I was considering a drag harrow and looked into it a little. Northern tool has one that's relatively cheap. And there are others around. I'd think that if you bought it at the same time you bought the tractor maybe they'd give you a good price but you're going to be paying for the LP brand name IMO.

Also included in that price is LP quality. ;)

Unless the quality changed in the last several years.

That looks like something you could fabricate. My neighbor made one with chain link fence and pieces of old chain.

Dragging is ground contact work. In all ground contact work implement weight is your friend.

Consider "chain" diameter. Most are 3/8" diameter, 1/2" is heavier and probably optimum.

Make sure any chain harrow you consider has solidly attached drawbars at both ends of the harrow.

When considering Drag Harrow price, consider both cost per pound and cost per square foot. You will make a better decision.

80 bucks for the second end though. I'll bet that I can make one up for a lot less than that.

I agree weight is key. When dragging the pasture I wish mine was heavier. Likely will throw some concrete block on it.

I just bought one from tsc. Make sure it can fit through your gates!

I bet so too, especially if you know someone with chain link fence scrap...you could easily weight it. A couple old railroad ties?

I bought the Loyal harrow from TSC last year. Had to go south of the border, that's how much I wanted that particular one. It has two sections and one can mix and match, tines agressive, not agessive, or upside down. It had more tines for that small size, than other models. But it is a pain to flip over and around. Heavy and seems to be good quality.

It goes behind my Steiner, so I only wanted a 6 foot width.
