Skid Plate

Hey everyone was wondering if anyone with a 2610HST has bought or built a skid plate for there tractor, I致e done numerous google searches but can never find anything for the 2610. Anything at all would be a great help. Thanks.

Any pictures of your tractor. I built a subrame and welded a plate to it, cut out to except the profile of the tractor/wheels etc. I back over the plate on the ground, lift up the arse end of the plate and shove it into a c-channel on the back end of the tractor................then walk around to the back of the front wheel, lift up the front of the plate and put a pin in. Walk around to the other side of the tractor to put in another pin. Where the plate goes under the front end, I made a hinge there. so I fold the very end of the skid plate up to the front bumper where I have two plates bolted to either side of the bumper permently. The two plates are drilled to except a few bolts, mating together. 5 minutes to remove or install. 1/4inch so it doesn't deform while running over it. Basically its hanging there if you would think of it.

ok. Well I see a front bumper on it that is bolted on. so what I did was get plates cut and drilled to match the bolt holes on your bumper. Then those plates hang down on the right and left side of your front radiator for lack of better explanation. I leave mine there then. That gives me something to bolt to without drilling the tractor somewhere.

on the back end of my tractor is a plate that is bolted to the tractor that hangs down below the pto shaft. This plate has a C shaped c-channel that accepts a "pipe" cross member that is on the backhoe sub frame. On the sub frame I made for the skid plate, I put the same diameter pipe so that when I lift the plate up and push ahead into the back of the tractor, the cross member (round pipe) slides into the c-channel permanently hanging from the tractor. So the back end the skid plate is hung up on the tractor.

Underneath the floorboards under your feet, there is a bracket permanently installed with one inch holes in it. When I put the backhoe on, the sub-frame goes up against this bracket and holes in the sub-frame lines up with holes in the bracket that accepts a one inch pin. That's it..the plate is on. underneath the front axle, or just ahead of it, I put a hinge on the plate. So a small section of the plate is hinged upward and mates with those two plates that are bolted to either side of my front bumper permanently.

That looks good thanks a bunch. I know I do have a bracket attached to the tractor that a backhoe bracket is suppose to bolt too, I am sure I could use that as a mount spot for a skid plate. This gives me ideas thank you

Yeah sure do, I would like some type of protection while I’m in the bush maybe not as heavy duty as vroomvroom’s but some sort of skid plate would be nice.

Its not being used as a tank. However, I worked on forestry equipment and use J5 bombardier tractors off road in the bush often and I jus know where sticks can poke up through everything. And the filters on those little tractors are in terrible spots. One stick to break one of those could mean disaster. I hauled a bit of wood with the little tractor but before I even attempted to drive in the trail I made the skid plate. The reason I have 1/4 steel plate is because I have to lay it on the ground, and back over it with the tractor before installing. If it was thinner metal, it would get warped and bent and probably not align as easy to install.
