Success!!! I posted on FB looking for help finding round bales and a friend that I sold a goat to gave me a name and phone number to call. I called guy and got another name, who owns a local feed store that I've been to. His prices where kind of on the high side, so we only went there when we where short on time to go to Atwoods. Out of desperation, I went there and asked him about buying hay, and if he had a better price if I bought 6 bales. He went from $70 a bale to $50 a bale, but I had to pick them up at his house. I took one from the store, went home, hooked up my trailer and he loaded me up with these five bales.

Turns out that his hay cutting business has been going on for 30 years with his brother in the area on a lot of local farms. Now their kids are taking over, but both families are involved. He said that he baled 20,000 round bales last year and his brand new baler is at 2,800 bales so far this year. He had two John Deere M cabbed tractors, but loaded me with a brand new 75 hp E model. There where a few other JD tractors there that I didn't see close enough to identify. I told him what I needed for the year and he said that when I'm ready for more, he would deliver it to my place for the same price. He said that it's easier to take it to my place for me to unload it, as it is to haul it from the field and then unload it at his place, and then load it again to sell it.

Maybe this will turn out to have been a good thing!!!!

Good deal! Our hay supplies here in Indiana are all jacked up because of TOO MUCH rain. At least for small squares for horses. That led me to hook up with a guy that will have no trouble supplying me for the rest of the year. Unlike my normal hay supplier who is having issues. So even though there were a few weeks where it was looking bad came out on the otherside looking good.

I'm thinking I'll cut today.

I'm taking the camera with me so I'll post some pictures tonight. I'm guessing it will take me about 10 hours to get it cut.

Got a late start and broke a shear bolt so I only got half the field cut. I'll finish up tomorrow.

So beautiful. I'm looking for the tele-tubbies on the hills in the background. :)

That is beautiful cat fever. Once again, I am reminded I live in an arm pit. :(

The weather casters are fairly certain. Do you ever broadcast dry fertilizer? My buddy says it seems to work better in these hot dry conditions once the rain hits it good.

I put together a video of spreading ammonium sulfate. Too bad I only got 1/4 inch of rain this week.
