Yeah, creek had a lot more water in the spring. I would have never attempted to cross it back then.

If you need to cross it in the future, you will need a load of rock, or some substantial timbers to bridge it. Depending on the current during floods, the rocks may be temporary unless the base rocks are huge.

No doubt others have said so in this lengthy thread (amazing how many people are drawn to fires and murders and stuck tractors!!) but I think you had a 2 part problem:

1) Those little tractors, even though 4wd and all that, have VERY low clearance. Not much clearance at all. If you had a foot more clearance you would have gone on through it probably. Many larger tractors do not have all that much clearance either. Nothing you can do about that.

2) And part 2 is the mud. From all the pictures it looks to me like you had some deep silt built up in that stream bed -- mud probably a foot or more deep, maybe even twice that. As others said, if you intend to go thru there in the future build up the stream bed with stone and heavy material that won't wash away. You will still have silt and mud back up against it and water overfflowing the stone but at least there will be a "bottom in it." Depends a whole lot on how often you need to cross, what other equipment crosses there, etc. as to how much you want to invest in the crossing.

Better luck next time.

County cleans this creek every few years, and I don't think I am allowed to do much to it.
I will probably build a removable bridge for ATVs/Dirt Bikes, and the tractor will have to go around on the road.

Yeah, its something like no structures, tree, etc... within 25' of the centerline. I got lucky with ours, in that there is an old abandoned railroad trestle over ours. I only walk across it, but the county took their excavator across it this spring.

You might be able to pick up a cheap small mobile home frame and leave the axles and tires on it. Build a deck on it, and roll it into the creek with the tractor when you need it, and roll it out when you don't. There's just a few of those frames around these parts....

You going to try project again?

This is not fair, a stuck tractor only gets 75 posts and a stuck drain plug gets 384.:grumpy:
Put some pallets in the creek and see what happens....

How did you know what I was about to do???
Know a guy that works @ RV factory in Elkhart, they scrap defective RV frames all the time (welded incorrectly or slightly crooked).

Yeah, it's pretty common knowledge around here, isn't it? Also, need any van seats?:laughing::laughing::laughing::laughing::laughing::laughing:
