What is best for killing all grass/weeds along fence line?

One of my puppies got Parvo, so I sprayed everything and everywhere he went with outdoor bleach, which is a lot stronger then household bleach. We had him out on the grass in a X crate, so I sprayed the X crate enough to make the paint fade, and the grass so much it looked like it had rained an inch. The bleach saturated the ground and couldn't soak in any more.

I though for sure that I would have to dig up that dirt to get the grass to grow again, but it never died. It never turned brown. Absolutely nothing happened.

Extra strong bleach does not kill grass.

Getting ready to do my fence lines and will start with a solution of 4oz of RM43 to one gallon water. Will use a 3 pt sprayer on my tractor. Going for total vegetation eradication along the fence line which contains blackberry, rose, and weeds. Acquired the property a few years ago and the fence lines probably haven't been maintained in 15 years. Lots to do!

I'm no scientist. I don't care about the fences, just the roads. I bought some glyphosate and some vinegar/salt/soap. I imagine the chemical does better but it will be a cheap test. what concerns me most is lasting effect on well water, etc. Nature has an amazing ability to eat up all that we do, roads, concrete, asphalt, etc. If we leave it nature will chew it up so I want to protect investments without screwing up nature of giving myself cancer in 20 years

Glyphosate (active ingredient in Roundup but available in cheaper generics now) is probably the safest, because any excess that runs off gets complexed (chemically tied up) in the soil. Use it as long as you don't have trees in the fence line or discontinue up to and after the drip line.

I've used it under many trees without issues - except a weeping willow. Killed it instantly it seemes.

TSC sells 2.5 gal concentrated for $35.

i've tried the salt/vinegar/soap and if you use ENOUGH of it it will kill it- forever it seems. Where the salt block goes in the pasture stays dead, very dead..for YEARS. But the mix takes repeated applications and even then doesn't work as well as glyphosate.

Glyphosate wears off and things come back.

When I was young it was common to spread/spray used motor oil to kill the weeds.

get a propane blow torch. the result will look about the same as a chemical kill w/ no toxicity.
yes of course, the chemical attack is cheaper & easier. but i have too much watershed areas & well to even consider that route.
to each his own. having a commercial grade bicycle handle weed eater w/harness helps with all my pond banks, etc
every site has it's own challenge for the landowner

A buddy and I were talking about this the other day. I use this stuff only once a year. But I mix it on the heavy side. Got it at Tractor Supply a few years ago. I think its around $60.
