Grease zerk

I'm the kind of guy that believes "If one is good, two is better and a dozen or 40 is a awesome purchase". :D I have bundles, bunches, packages, strips, cases of a lot of stuff but narry a loose grease zerk, that I've found, in my different locations and actually never needed one in almost 15 years Kubota and many implements ownership. How odd and strange is that? I did order the Lock n lube and have it on my shelf ready to install before my next greasing due to the difficulty of getting the gun off the fittings. I even ordered the kit of multiple ends for a grease gun to see if I could find one that will grip and then release freer than thinking I'm going to break the zerk or having to turn the end enough to get it to release with greasy hands. I hope the Lock n lube will allow me to hook it on and then squeeze the air powered grease gun without having to try and hold the fitting on the zerk with one hand and the gun with one hand and squeeze the trigger with the third hand.:confused2:...........and then release easily.

Carefully remove the zerk in question - take it to your local auto parts store - purchase the correct one. If in the mood - buy a zerk kit. Surely one or two out of the kit might fit when the need arises in the future. I bought a kit with 16 - of varying sizes, shapes. Two out of the kit of 16 have ever been used. The others must fit a NASA project. Good way for a manufacturer to get rid of unwanted zerks.

The end of normal grease couplers is threaded like a bolt. Unscrew the 1/4" of the tip & it will loosen the grip. Tighten the tip to tighten the grip.

It took me a very long time until somebody pointed that out to me. I've still upgraded to a lock 'n lube though.

@oosik -- If they are bigger than the ones I got, I get my thread tapper kit out and make them work.

Sounds like we are twins with exact same experience. :D My fingers seem to always get greasy and trying to turn the tip is slippery so like you I ordered the Lock n lube.

Shoot, I tightened it 1/2 turn & it's now aligned perfectly!
