Today I went to use my box blade which has a category 2 three point. When I raised the three point, the metal pieces on the outside of the adjusting handle on three point lifting rod contacted the power beyond hose and put a huge gash in it. Luckily it did not go through the metal in the hose. I only caught this after raising the blade when I put it on and then going back to level it I had noticed it contacting the hose. I never had this issue with my category 1 rotary cutter so I suspect this is some sort of Kubota design flaw.

Tractor is an L6060HSTC with BH92 backhoe, but I suspect the issue would occur on any L60 that has the category 2 hitch.

Has anyone else encountered this? Is there a fix? I need to use my blade tonight to get work done on a spot that took 3 months to dry before it rains tomorrow.

My initial thought is swapping the adjusting rod over to the left lift arm. I'm not sure if there could be any unknown consequences of doing this, and it's also a real PITA to relearn where the adjustment is when I need to change the slope of the blade.

PS: I also have to comment this adjusting rod is subpar compared to my last tractor, a New Holland Workmaster 55. On the NH I could adjust the rod with weight on it (it was difficult up, and easy down), but on the Kubota I have to drop the implement to the ground to raise/lower the adjusting rod. This sucks because you have to lift it, check it, drop it, change it, lift it, check it, etc. With the NH I could just adjust the rod and check the slope without having to keep raising and lowering the implement (and thus forth going back to the operators console). Unfortunately the factor TnT was not compatible with the backhoe subframe or I would have definitely been regretting not getting the TnT kit. I may end up getting one from a third party later on due to how difficult it is to adjust. Don't get me wrong, it's not the end of the world and quick once I determined the issue, but it definitely takes more time than my last couple tractors that I have been able to adjust with the implement raised, which saved a lot of time.

Thanks for your input. Hopefully someone has encountered the issue with the contact point on the power beyond hose and can give me some pointers to get working tonight. Otherwise I may end up getting desperate and swapping the adjusting rod to the other side.

Matt

The adjusting link on my L6060 does on occasion, rub the BH power take off hose but it's not servere enough to cause any damage. There is some flexibility in the mounting location of that female hose connector on my tractor and it will move slightly when forced. I considered putting a 45 deg. fitting on the hose end but it's only a minor issue for me. The clearance between the link and the hose varies depending on the mounting pin width of the implement attached. most of mine are narrow enough so the problem is minor.

From the looks of the links on my tractor, I don't see why you couldn't swap them out. The non adjustable link may still contact the hyd. hose but it's smooth and shouldn't cause harm.

I agree about that link being difficult to adjust. You'd think Kubota would have thought up a better design by now.

I added a T&T kit to the tractor for just that reason. Granted it makes adjustment easier but the lousy Kubota rear remote valve I use to control it bleeds down fairly rapidly and the hyd cylinder needs constant adjusting.

Well fail on the swap of the lift rods. They look the same but the geometry is slightly different to not allow swapping them.

It looks to me like the bracket holding the power beyond female coupler needs modified to move the coupler towards the right side away from the three point. Thinking of unbolting it at the moment to get working tonight.

Looking at the pics...I would think the simplest solution would be an angled (45* or 90* maybe) NPSM fitting to move the hose out of harms way...

Female Pipe Swivel Fittings (NPSM) > Discount Hydraulic Hose.com

I don’t think there is enough room for a fitting to miss it either. Not certain.

Tried doing wire ties which helped very little.

Just raised the lift arms to the next hole which should allow me to raise the blade higher on a lower setting to hopefully avoid the damage until I’m done working.

A 90* will take it straight up from the QD end...angle it a little to the right for more clearance..

Stupid question, will a 90 reduce the flow and cause any unforeseen issues?

As far as I know they are the same ID as any other fittings (including hose ends) of the same size...

The male end (NTPF) of the fitting would go into the QD end and the male (NTPF) hose would connect to the female swivel (NPSM) of the 90*...

Theoretically yes, especially if you are running a motor off of it. If you're just using it to control a cylinder you will not notice the difference.

On the side arm. It is interesting that they went that way, our L3830 has a gearbox and a crank handle which lets you adjust it under load no problem.

So the thing is, this is on the power beyond. So it's not just one cylinder that is on this hose. Everything goes through it I thought.

My first Long Farmtrac had the crank on the lift rod. Those are awesome.

I ended up moving the lift rod up a notch while allowed the box blade to be lifted higher without having to go past setting 7 were it was contacting the hose. I almost raised it too high a couple times. Luckily I didn't need to dig the blade in deep today because a couple times it was not low enough for me but I managed to get what I needed done today before the rain tomorrow.
