The 25 series does in fact have a smaller displacement motor than the 20 series at this time. 84mm x 94mm vs 88mm x 94mm bore and stroke for the 2.1 (A2000) and 2.3 (A2300) liter engines respectively. I don't recall who or where it was said on the forum but someone mentioned not wanting to "risk it" by going with the newer engine on the 25 series when in fact these two 4 cyl blocks have been in play since the beginning with the 20/20i series on various HP levels. 4220i for instance having the smaller 2.1L 4 cyl and the 4720/4720i had the 2.3L going back to 2005.

What this boils down to is that at this time with current model availability if one wants a sub 40 HP 20/25 size chassis, go with the 20 series if you want a 3 cylinder 1.7 (A1700)88x94 engine and if you want a 4 cyl, go with the 25 series (A2000) 84x94mm engine.

Interesting history on the A series enignes below. Looks like they were originally built by onan for gensets and then kukje took over all manufacturing for the engines and changed them from a sleeved block to a "throw away" / parent block.

Note that you can buy a new Kukje "A2000" engine for 4500 bucks on Ebay with a cummins label for 4500 rated at 45 hp at 2800 RPM. I guess this translates down to 42 HP @ 2600 RPM in our application. And the 37 HP are de-rated at the Bosch VE rotary style injection pump.

This Engine I wouldn't consider a "cummins" but an "Onan". The 30 Series Branson with the 3.3L is definitely more of a cummins but I think that one also has ties with Komat'su being in joint venture to develop it originally.

When I asked the dealer what the difference is between the 4225 and 3725 they said it's the fuel injectors. I don't know if that is correct. If the 3725 is detuned at the pump then it ought to be fairly simple to tune it up to 4225 specs.

Yes that is true it could be the injectors too. There is a full fuel screw on the VE but turning it up might fill the DPF fast due to the extra PMs and also it would need to be tuned with a PTO Dyno, and EGT would be interesting to monitor as well.

If you are already settled in to get a Branson, just get it. They are tough! Sit on the tractor and get a feel for it. See if you like the controls and etc.

Here I am happilly mowing this high and dense stuff in 540E with my F36R (3515R in the US) with a 4 foot mower. Keep in mind we use 3/4" chain in the mower instead of blades. It will handle rocks better than blades and also spread the shredded bush better.

I go about 2 foot above the ground just to pull the surrounding bush down a bit. This tractor doesn't even try to bog down on my, sometimes it feels that has more than 35 hp. I'm really happy with it.

I was also told by my dealer the difference between the 4225 and 3725 is just fuel delivery. Can't say I remember if it's *only* the injectors, but I think he said, it's if you swap out to the larger injectors, you now have a 4225. I'll be leaving mine alone.

When I am chipping larger material with the PTO chipper I could use 5 more HP (or 10). For my other uses it's fine.

Maybe ask your dealer if that's all it takes to come up to a 42? Maybe he could order the injectors for you to swap out?

I remember you saying previously that you wished for more hp while chipping.

Do you have your rear tires spread out to 72 inches?

I have the rear tires filled with water. They have inner tubes. The tires are not spread. It is set at 55 inches which is the stock width. This 15 series is just a bit smaller and lighter than the 20 and 25 series.
