 forgot about this 026 rebuild that came in in boxes. Been setting for 5 years and was taking apart when the guy was drunk. :mur: :duh::greedy:

Why in the world someone would take the brake system apart and clutch apart for a scored piston is

Dad had give it to the son and he wanted to get it going again. I tried to talk him out of rebuilding it actually, as they could be bought running cheaper.

Is that a sheared flywheel key I see in your 5th photo?

I don't know what you can get for a good working 026 in OH, but I imagine your charge to rebuild will
be at least a P&C plus labor. What do you think your total charge will be?

Yes the key was sheared off and welded itself into the crank. Could not punch it out. Broke a few punches trying so. Ended up grinding it out.

I gave him a deal and knocked off some of the labor charge off.
Put it this way, a regular stihl shop would have got what I charged for labor in 2hrs alone. ;) I had 6hrs in this build. Took way to long but had alot of different troubled areas to take care of.

Smaller one is what got the key groove opened back up.

Are Efcos any good?

Some folks like them and give good feedback. But just like anything there is bad feedback too. I cant say yet.
Do like how they are built compared to others in price range. Also like old school set ups.

Like the 52 is a homeowner rancher series with plastic case but isnt a clamshell like the top brands. 56 is mag cased pro built saw.

What I see and hear is very few dealers. Company was screwing over dealers on warranty clams at one time. Parts source is pretty tough for folks that work on their own stuff.

Pic of IPL to show what I am taking about on 52.

Must say first time running a efco 152 CC 5018. Just got the piston kit in Friday and installed yesterday. Just finished first cuts in dry ash with 18" buried with a 325 chain that has those big crap safety bumper fins.
Even though everything was against it. Being not broken in and crap chain. I was highly impressed. Only thing I done was added 2 holes to the other side of the inner muffler baffle.

Considered a homeowner farm ranch grade like the clamshell big 2 saws. But these are not clamshell. Look at pic I posted above from IPL.
