Called the local farm store. They have a couple, but they are not theirs, so no help there. Their only recommendation was to call a steel recycler n Decatur, about 35 miles one way from here.

There's also a container guy on CL I'm going to call and see if he has a source or knows of one.

Thanks,

We called them "tub skids" back in the early 80's up in Boeing Seattle. I have no idea what they're real name is.

But I need one (or more). Approximate size is 4'x4'x3' or so.

So what are they called, where can I buy one (or more) and typically how much do they cost?

Thanks!!

They are called "skid boxes". If someone already answered this then please forgive me.

Not sure if it will work for your application but many agriculture chemical and other liquids come in 125 to 250 gallon totes or cage shuttles. Many are not returnable. They are moved and stacked by forklift. They are thick plastic with a metal cage around it. Cut the top out and it would look similar to what you have. Of course not as durable but $20 -$50 bucks how long would it take to get that much use out of it?

I thought about that as well. I got three of those a year or so ago for $25 each, which is a steal around here. I made one into my tractor forks work platform and gave one to my BIL, leaving me with one spare. I don't mind the 1-3 times I might have to use for moving river rock. But sure as heck, once I cut the top off the plastic, I'll then have a desperate need for a 275 gallon water tank..... :)

Intermediate bulk container - Wikipedia

Not quite an IBC tote, but close. I have a pile of IBC totes around. A couple that held alcohol of some sort, they were under $. Use those for watering trees & stuff. The ones that had paint in them are as nasty as expected & were about $15 each. I generally cut the top off of them, scrape the worst of the paint out & use them for storage. Have one for crushed aluminum cans, others for copper, steel & aluminum. A few I just pulled the bladders entirely & use for firewood.
