Me, too. Even though I always wear hearing protection now, the damage was done way back then.... If I listen, I can always hear the ringing. Some days its way more noticeable than others. At night, it reminds me of the locusts I used to hear in the trees outside my bedroom window. So, when I want to go to sleep, and the ringing is really loud, I just imagine myself as a little kid, tucked into my bed at home, not a care in the world, and let the insects sing me to sleep.

Works for me. :)

I'm pretty sure mine came from my current tractor. I don't know why but for the first year or so I did not wear hearing protection while operating it. Total idiocy on my part but just did not think about it. Then I noticed my ears ringing after being on the tractor a while. And to be honest I don't think it is the engine, I think it is the whine of the transmission under load. Worse when plowing vs mowing.

Anyway, I have it both ears, 24/7. sometimes loud and intrusive sometimes hardly noticeable. I run a small fan in my room at night just for the white noise which cancels the ringing fairly well.

First, do you have the manuals for those components? If not, see if you can google them up. You may just have a switch that's not in the correct position.

On your old system, with the left channel cutting out, have you tried spraying the volume control with
DeoxIT? My neighbor buys, sells, trades, collects old audio equipment and DeoxIT works really well.

Not just the volume control, but all pots and switches (with the exception of the power switch). Any one or combination of them can cause intermittent audio if they get oxidized.

I知 game to try the DeoxIT. Nothing to lose but do I spray it around the edges of the dials or do I need to remove them?
For the record - No.

DeoxIT has to get on the electrical contacts. It deoxidizes and preserves the quality of electrical contact. Best if used, cycled, and then wiped off so that little residue is left. All residue eventually drys. Excess residue will dry and get gummy holding dust.

Yeah, I run a fan, too.

I tell you what, though.... that ringing is much louder when I'm not well rested. I rarely get more than 4-5 hours of sleep a night due to insomnia. About 4-5 days into a good bout of insomnia, I take a prescription sleeping aid and I get a full night's sleep. 2-3 days of full night's sleep and I stop taking the prescription. Then I'm good for about a week, then it's back to insomnia for 4-5 day, repeat.

On well-rested days, the ringing is very quiet and hardly noticeable as I go through my daily activities. But when I'm worn down, it's very loud and noticeable.

Dr. says its tinitus. After reading a bazillion articles on it, I concur.

That's why the new spray nozzle is not okay and even though the fluid works, I would not buy it again for this reason. A simple tube like the old WD-40 cans is worlds better than the piece of crap they have on there now. Fluid runs out all over the place, nozzle trigger is hard to push. I won't buy WD-40 for the same reason. Half of it goes somewhere I really don't want it to go. Simply amazed that stuff like this gets designed and sold.

You sure you got the tube clicked in all the way up?

Right. When spray can needs a 4 minute video by a PhD to tell you how to use an aerosol can then that's pretty much how you know you need to look for a better product.

Or this...

But they get their best ideas from you, the customer.... :D
