You can probably find some of those tubs sitting empty outside the docks of most small, medium, and large factories here in America. If you are fast, stealthy, and not too good looking you probably fetch you one or two. If the fast/stealthy thing does not work out for you.... the looking thing might help you out dealing with your cellmate.....

Not quite an IBC tote, but close. I have a pile of IBC totes around. A couple that held alcohol of some sort, they were under $. Use those for watering trees & stuff. The ones that had paint in them are as nasty as expected & were about $15 each. I generally cut the top off of them, scrape the worst of the paint out & use them for storage. Have one for crushed aluminum cans, others for copper, steel & aluminum. A few I just pulled the bladders entirely & use for firewood.

Some of those tubs are ' drop bottom ' and the bottom opens up when the tub is put in the proper stand made to let it open up. The standard tubs are usually dumped by using a fork truck with a rotating set of forks to turn it upside down. There used to be big piles of them out in the parking lots at GM machining plants. They are common industry tubs.

For some reason, I never saw square tubs in our plants, the standard was a C5 - 3x5 by 30 inches deep? When we machined small castings, that's what they were shipped in. Of course when they sent that work to Mexico, they sent the tubs, too?

There are two things I miss about living in Seattle (working for The Lazy B) in the 80"s: The mountains and Boeing Surplus.

Do you know I still have and use things I bought from Boeing Surplus from the 1980-1990 time frame when I lived in Seattle? Gunsmithing seat, plywood, bolts and hardware, drills, bits and tools, file cabinet.

Yep going off topic but... I do very much miss the Surplus store where you could walk in and buy just about anything at the quantity you wanted. Now everything is on line auction and grouped in lots that don't cater to individuals vs business owners. I understand why from a logistics standpoint but... When you do win an auction item, you must pick it up in 5 days and go through security. This means a full vehicle inspection and get badged. Luckily, I am ex Boeing so I'm in the system and don't need an escort. Others do and that adds to the painful process of picking up your purchase.

That said, I have found some decent deals on metal storage cabinets and a steal on a Wilton vise not specified on a large steel workbench I bought. Also a steal on a nice Baldor pedestal grinder!
