2 lb. Hickory Handle Brass Hammer

they sell this one now. I saw them on the shelf this week

Since you mentioned the "hickory-handled" hammers, I have to say that I'm really unhappy that they some time ago, discontinued all of their fiberglass-handled hammers except the framing hammers.

Their 3# and 4# drilling or mini-sledge hammer were some of my favorite hammers- which means of course that I only have 2 of them left in my possession- the others having walked off, or somehow evaporated when used off-site from my property.

Although, my search just now came up with this:

The proliferation of inexpensive high density lithium ion batteries has finally hit mainstream. We've seen the effects in RC racing for many years. Now it's propagating out across other industries and products. I've been dreaming of this for years, battery power and storage density to rival and often beat your average small engine.

I also feel that those of us in the RC world of competition racing who were willing to spend seemingly insane money on cutting edge electronics and batteries to get an edge at the track are a large part of what fueled the research that brings this to you today.

15+ years ago, people like me were importing batteries from Germany at $100-$150 each so that we could gain an edge. We were buying brushless motors for big money before most folks ever heard of them. We literally poured cash into the hands of anyone who could outperform the other and gave momentum to the development of these technologies.

It's nothing to have a few grand into an RC racer, and you are always waiting to dump more cash out on the next best thing.

HF will be knocking the socks off HD and their 40 volt line. The HD close to me stopped stocking the 40V Lithium batteries because they had so many returns. I will be a convert to the Lynx line if they don't solve the problem soon. I have 3 Ryobi outdoor 40V tools and have gone through 4 batteries in two years. Some get their tool home and the first charge and it fails. Ryobi is grossly not customer friendly. Hung up on me twice and refuse to answer email asking what's wrong and when do they expect a fix. I think they are milking the $100 each replacement market. HF here I come.

I took the 40v leaf blower with me to the car wash today and the wife is out with the line trimmer as I type having come in to get a bit. We got the 2010 F150 back with the body work and new windshield done. I had the shop to put 1.25 holes in the new metal rear cab corners with rubber 1.25 rubber plug inserts. I am going to spray rustoleum up in the holes tonight then reinstall the running boards so I get get into and out of the truck without killing myself and ripping the seat. I want this truck to last me another 20 years and never rust out again. I had them to paint the underside and inside of the bed while they had it off.

I am finding uses for the 40v tools that I never thought about when using corded ones. HD will go the way of Sears in time I expect. The move to quality at HF is much faster than I would have ever thought. I remember when Toyota and Datsun where looked at as low cost rust buckets.

Very much agree with that. Many of their sockets and related hand tools are as good as the good stuff from back in the day. They are slowly becoming the elephant in the room.

My son just bought a HF Bauer 20v drill. The housing is much smaller than my old 18v DeWalt but at first impression I'll say that the HF drill feels and looks to be pretty equal in build quality. The unknown is.. my DeWalt is close to a decade old and works perfectly. Will this Bauer do the same? If so, for $60 you just can't beat the HF drill. I actually like the more compact size of it, you'll for it into more areas easier for sure.

Ron, funny you mention the Ryobi hangups. I bought the six tool combo during their summer promotion. I was still using a charger from a previous set, the recently had occasion to use the new charger that came with the combo. It failed on first use. Wouldn't light up at all. So I called Ryobi. They hung up on me, twice. Thought it was very odd. The second time, they called me back, eventually transferred me to a warranty rep, and they are sending a new charger and asked that I return the defective one to HD.

Nothing wrong with the actual service they provided. Just thought it was weird that their phone system hung up on you and me both, twice.
