Does warranty cover Rust?

My eMax 25 is 15 months old and I noticed rust on the top of the mower deck already. I haven't asked the dealer yet, but any idea if this would because warranty thing? It's not like it's rust where I may have hit something, it's right on top off the deck where the metal belt cover is.



I clean it after every use, grass never sits on it or anything like that.

Looks like a crappy paint job to me. Powder coat would have been better for something like this.

Yeah, it can稚 be a good job if it痴 rusting already, it痴 possible it痴 from vibration of that cover right there. So maybe just a poor design. But once it starts rusting it痴 so hard to get it to stop, and it痴 so new I hate to have to deal with that already

Always inside. I took the covers off today, a lot of the rust is on or around the welds. The rest is where the cover sits on the deck.

I'd just clean off the loose stuff, spray it with rust converter and give it a couple coats of Rust-Oleum Apple Red (the closest color I've found to Mahindra red). You can ask the dealer but I believe the implements only have a 1 year warranty.

In general farm implement paint jobs are not held to the standards of an automobile. Many can be seen rusting on the parking lots before they are sold. Most of us just do as suggested above if we are concerned about the rust. Hit it a lick, pretreat/prime and rattle can it and go on. There is and always will be plenty of rust on the other side of the bush hog isn't there? Implements are implements and will always take a beating. If you wish to maintain the looks of the non ground engaging parts, then it is pretty much up to you to do as much or as little maintenance as you wish on them.

As an example I have painted my bush hog once, and touched up a couple of times in the last 15 years. I have painted my scrape blade once and many parts are still rusty. I pay more attention to the sheet metal of the tractor, I don't want rust getting a foothold. As for the bucket, well, rust is forming. and you can paint it all you want, and rust is still going to be there, because you scrape off the paint every time you use it. I guess it is all about what level of rust is acceptable to you. If thy rust offends ye, then work on it!

I agree with kOua, it's just the way it is. Rust will come sooner or later.

Even if warranty doubt it would be covered after 12 months.

Thanks for the replies. I talked to the dealer again, they think they can get it covered, I hope to hear back tomorrow. Otherwise I'm will do as suggested. My last tractor, a John Deere, the deck didn't rust lik this for I bet 5 or 6 years. It's definitely not normal, or just normal for Mahindra if they do cheap/crappy paint jobs. I hope the paint on the tractor continues to hold up
