Branon's numbering system is a little odd on their tractors but guess I found the largest compact they make. Just wondering what engine is used?

I have 2 Bransons and 2 Cummins licensed (international manufacturers) engines: The 65 hp B 3.3 NA and the 24 hp A1100N.

A and B are the series meaning things are different in the design, size (hp range) for one, or direct injection vs swirl chamber which works better for smaller engines....less injector problems.

3.3 is for 3300 CC and 1100 is for 1100 CC displacements. The N I presume picks up unique requirements for North American market tractors.

N or NA means for naturally aspired engine and T means for turbocharged engine.

Here in Europe, on the 00 Series, there is the A1100N engine producing 21 HP and 24 HP for the 2200 and 2500 models, then there is the A1100T engine producing 28hp and 30hp for the 2900 and 3100 models.

The 52hp is the 47hp with a turbo as I recall. Someone posted that cummins bought this design by Onan. Generator motor?

The Branson 5220R uses a Cummins/Kukje A2300T 4 cylinder 2.3L turbocharged diesel engine. There is also the A2000 2.0L 4 cyl used in the 25 series, and the A1700 used in the lower 35 HP 20 series

The 6530 is Naturally Aspired, direct injected (into the combustion cylinder). The 2400 is swirl chamber...a small chamber off to the side of the main combustion chamber where the charge originates and then expands over to the main chamber. Per Cummins information, it is easier to build and less likely to have problems with small orfices for the small fuel requirement in the smaller engines. Swirl chambers do run hotter which is good for wintertime use. No problem with overheating in the summer, just gets up to stat temp fast.

The 28 hp version of my small tractor is with the turbo.

Thanks for the explanation Texasmark.

I've noticed that my tractor, that uses the A1700N, reaches the operating temp really fast.

Once it's there, it just maintains the temp. Seems to have a really efficient cooling system. I've run the tractor with the radiator almost all plugged up with that cotton stuff and it didn't really change the temp at all. I've just run like that for a bit. I usually clean the radiator every hour when I'm mowing stuff like that.

I think it does too and deliberately so since they say in their printed literature that swirl chambers run hotter.....so they designed the cooling system with added capacity. Keeping your radiators cleaned out is really necessary on any tractor/engine working hard and doing farm work is easy to get it clogged.

I use the water hose but what also works is a little wand I made that gets what the hose doesn't:

Long enough to reach down to the bottom of radiator
Air shutoff valve at the end of wand to control air flow...like the valve on a gas heater plumbed into your house gas supply....90 degree full off to on works great.
⅜ copper tubing with the end soldered shut.
On opposite sides, starting from the bottom 6 ea 1/16" holes to blow air in both directions......I have the holes on both sides as on the 6530 I have the radiator, AC coil, and hydraulic cooling coil all in a sandwich so I can shoot both ways with each pass.
